With the memory of iTools well-faded, .Mac heads to the history books as well.

Two-step verification for Apple ID's and iCloud. Glad to hear it, but I will probably wait for a week or two for any bugs to manifest.

speaking of two-step (factor) I found this to be interesting/curious today.

Specifically in conjunction with LastPass http://www.yubico.com/products/yubikey-hardware/lastpass-yubikey/

Another reason that I think that Apple is sick is that they can't figure out the Cloud and yet it is a huge part of their strategy.

Take goddamn iPhoto. I want photo stream to work but for the last couple of months, it is always off when I launch iPhoto on the Mac. Why? I dunno, makes no sense to me.

Am I running all sorts of crap that should interfere with iPhoto? No. in fact, how can i? Do I have 25 icloud accounts? No, 1.

There is no good reason for this.

It just doesn't work.

And with another billion tossed at it, it's not going to do any better.

Failure is pre-greatness.
So is the whole of AppleIDdom having issues (starting last night) or am I in my own special hell right now of AppleID not being recognized in various forms?

Apparently I was in a specially created hell... took all the way to re-installing iTunes to clear it up. Of course, I got a password change (across the world) out of the deal too... oy.

I ran into AppleID issues this past week. Thought it was all screwed up. Seems back to normal for me now.

I had an issue with the AppleTV last night, with desktop iTunes today, but only on ONE machine. A different machine logged in just fine, same bat account, same bat time.

Weird.

It [iTunes 11.0.4] also fixed an issue that caused some users to have to log into the iTunes store repeatedly during use.

Guess it wasn't just me. I suppose it's time to update...

apple.com won't load. Can't access iCloud email. Apple blow up?

If I connect to Chicago by VPN, I can get to apple.com. If I connect to San Francisco by VPN, I cannot.

Ah.

Changing DNS servers seems to have helped.

The Apple system status page wouldn't load for me while the problems were going on. Kind of an inherent issue when you host your system status page on the system that it is monitoring.
