What a journey.
Google Maps - ROUTE approximation >>> https://goo.gl/LCYBCJ

Looks like the "505" cuts just to the west of Sacramento.

Sadly with family in tow, and plans still nebulous, I am not sure of when/where and how much time we have. trying to work on that today as a matter of fact.

Det finnes ikke dårlig vær, bare dårlige klær!
My wife and I are talking about doing a very similar route in late September.

What a journey.
Back from Cali. Whirlwind trip again. 22 hours in airports to get there due to flight cancellation. :(
But had a great time. Mt. Shasta area is beautiful. Spent time on lakes, and around. Saw source/headwater for Sacramento river. Adjacent to my sister's property.
On way back to leave, we stopped in to Muir Woods. Crazy roads to get there. But surreal and serene area. Did not even have enough time to visit Apple spaceship visitor center. :(
Back to work...
HAPPY 4th !

CS and others. Seems like good prices. Dublin in particular here.

From Minneapolis ($320 – $355)

Nov. 26 – Dec. 5 | Jan. 14 – 23 | Mar. 4 – 13

Dublin? UGH! But that’s just me and Ray Bradbury.

If you get out of town and go to newgrange and stuff, it’s kind of ok.

klaw is a good restaurant, one of the few that gets the idea of seafood in Ireland.

Stags head is a nice pub, I gotta say. ESP in the back where the fox is.

In Portland for the XOXO conference, and woah, ran into ddt there with a little more grey hair than I remember :), who was with an acquaintance from Austin. Small world. Sorry we didn't have more time to chat, man, especially somewhere quieter. Someone described XOXO as Twitter made physical, and yeah, never been exposed to so much social justice-ing. While I welcome some of that, it was not what I expected. Got the most out of talking tech-culture with my friend I was crashing with, who incidentally went to the same science writing program as you, ddt.

Enjoying Blue Star donuts right now. Wow.

Hey, some of us live here! (next time, try Coco if you're downtown or Angel's donuts if you're in the Alberta district)

Well, dang, Roger. I've been crashing in Boise. I have a red eye tonight, so I might be able to get a beer after dinner if you feel like it.
My sugar sensors are blown out now but timely lunch suggestions are welcome.

Sadly I'm currently covered in thin-set mortar and in the middle of tiling a kitchen today, but I will absolutely take a rain check for next time, next XOXO or whatever brings Sporkers to town. My favorite lunch downtown is Mauritian food truck Chez Dodo, SW 4th and Stark, and they actually have a stall at the airport too if you end up hungry on the way out of town. Or, if you like pinball and arcade games, you owe yourself a trip to Ground Kontrol, which combines well with Mi Mero Mole right around the corner for a quick bite.

Great name for a Mauritian food truck!

Roger – September 10, 2018 05:18PM Reply Quote
The chef, who's the nicest guy in the world, claims it's the only Mauritian restaurant in the US. I certainly couldn't contradict him.

johnny k – September 10, 2018 07:41PM Reply Quote
Bummer, Dodo was closed. Rain check for that too, unless I have time at the airport.

Bum Steer would be another good name for a food truck. Especially one that served butt steak.
