Winter is coming ... and probably so are spoilers (which is why we use the spoiler tags like this one):

What a journey.
Just need to get a kickstarter for t-shirts for "I told you GRRM would NOT finish his books!"
:) :)

Personally, I think that the ending will be "White Walkers break through the Wall and slaughter everyone." A full on diabolus ex machina and the easiest way in which the TV series could be kept consistent with unwritten books. No more worrying about which characters get cut - they all die anyway.

I think the TV shows are going to create their own narrative. They have already introduced things we haven't read.

GRRM is just not up to finishing the series. Not a big deal because he is rich and popular and all, but he will go down as a person who wrote 3 great books and won Peter Dinklage a bunch of Emmys. Everything else will be superfluous.

Yay! GOT S4 is finally available on iTunes.

I still haven't figured out why it took so long but this article is food for thought:

So: 1) while I like HBO's content I detest their business model and 2) I hope that the Fox/TW merger is blocked.

You're ahead of the game, Tony. Season 4 isn't on the iTunes store in the US yet, and if past years are any indication it won't be available for several more months, nor will DVDs/Blu-Ray.

The DVD doesn't get released until 6 weeks before the next season in Australia (mid February, give or take).

Baffled why GOT S4 isn't on US iTunes - it doesn't make sense unless they want people to lose patience and pirate...

Jonathan Pryce as the High Sparrow is a solid choice to fill our "scheming old man" requirement now that Dance is off.

I just don't want to look at Bashir, frankly.

Aw, boo-hoo:

Jesus, whatever happened to taking some personal responsibility, sucking it up and just finishing the damn thing.

You'd think he wasn't being paid or something. Truly pathetic.

What if it came out on TV in the 1960s? (Loooove the cool jazz version.)

So he is writing prolifically - he's just not writing prolifically on book 6.

If you can't wait, you can watch "Galahad". Hey, it gets Vinnie Jones to sing and dance. Beat that, GRRM.

I got that WOIAF at Costco and enjoyed it. Great production, illustrated thoroughly. Only wished it went deep more often.
