We'll miss you Steve - you were right a lot of the time when we were wrong...

Was reminded of this through posts elsewhere. A good read:

amazing to think that even with all the money in the world (essentially), he couldn't fix himself.

on the up side (because, hell this is spork)… does this mean that itunes will finally be rewritten?

It's been a while since I've seen anyone refer to him as TSO.

And when was the last time anyone talked about something getting "Steved"? Looks like Steve finally got Steved, himself. Hope he continues to be well, and I'm impressed how well-managed this transition seems to have been.

It's hard to believe he's been CEO for 14 years now... longer than his time in exile.

I myself returned to the Mac world shortly after he took back the reins. First with a used PowerMac 4400/160 that I managed to pick up really cheap. Then I bought my first new Mac in 1999, a PowerMac G4/500 (AGP) on which I ran the Mac OS X Public Beta. Since then I've bought many more new machines:

iBook G3/300 (original)
PowerBook G3 400 (Lombard)
PowerBook G3 500 (Pismo)
PowerBook G4 500 (Titanium)
PowerBook G4 1.33GHz (17 inch)
PowerBook G4 867 (12 inch)
PowerMac G4 867 (Quicksilver)
PowerMac G4 Dual 1GHz (MDD)
PowerMac G5 Dual 2GHz
Mac Pro Quad 2.66Ghz
MacBook Pro 2.2GHz (15 inch)
Mac mini 1.83GHz (Core 2 Duo)
5GB iPod (1st Gen)
20GB iPod (3rd Gen)
30GB iPod (5th Gen)
160GB iPod (6th Gen)
2GB iPod Nano (1st Gen)
512MB iPod Shuffle (1st Gen)

Plus a wide variety of used machines I've collected over the years.

Lion is the first time I didn't buy and install a new OS version on the day it was released.

LOL, from one of my friends in the post production world:

Steve Jobs' text was meant to say: "I reign as CEO of Apple". Damn you autocorrect!"

"Jobs resigning from Apple is like Galadriel diminishing after the Fall of Sauron and leaving for the West."

Surely an event like this would be enough to lure TGB back here for a cameo.

Indeed, Cloudscout. And Demon1 and even RKM?

Is RKM even alive? I know he had some significant health problem, and his website hasn't been updated for nearly a decade.

R. Stevens over at Diesel Sweeties made this comment tonight:

Thanks for all the good stuff, Steve. You're living proof that having vision and working hard can make up for being a dick.

I dont know… I've wondered if RKM was alive too.

This site is linked to RKM… http://mercurymarketing-inc.biz/  The contact info for Pelagius points here. It was last updated in 2008 by one Rose Morgan Shveda. Widow?

Geez, I saw that and suddenly I'm feeling old.

Gruber has a nice set of links to some really lovely Steve stories. (I'm waiting for the armchair shrink who goes into why Steve is so sentimental about children.)

What's next? Siracusa's going to post a story that's basically, "What're these damn things with all the blinky lights? Why, in MY day... ."?
