I'm using Windows 7. Took me 90 minutes to get rid of all that carp. Let's see if security essentials works.

Why the hell won't they just make it part of Windows? What's wrong with these people?

But they're Essentials. What would happen if we took software out of anti-trust? Lot of good it did Netscape - at the speed the government moves on this, it doesn't actually help small companies. And IE got beat anyway, or at least nullified. It just took a bunch of innovating to outpace it.

It will be interesting to see what happens to IE over the next year or so now that the Browser Election Ballot has been removed from Windows.

Christ, iTunes is like a whirly-twirly in your anus every time. The search feature is beyond borked. It's bork bork bork. Ludicrous.

The iOS portions of iTunes need to be removed I think. iTunes goes back to being the media hub while another device is used for managing devices.

If they make it hard to listen to things you already own (your library) or get for free (podcasts) then people will be more likely to pay for a streaming subscription service. Everybody wins!

Good article. If I didn't rely on iTunes to play movies & tv shows to the AppleTV I'd be looking for third party software.

It magical mystery meat navigation taken to the next level.

If iTunes 12 is Yosemite I'll stick with Mavericks

Yup, the great new feature is you get a little status bar at the top of your browser saying "flash has crashed would you like to reload the page?"

This happens alarmingly regularly.

It should be renamed adobe crash.

I am in internet funk. feel like the more I use it lately, the less 'real life' is happening.

An absurdly tiny milkshake for the Messages app in Yosemite. Not just for all the bugs — using Google Chat is a comedy of missed messages recently — but for the bizarrely constrained width of the text bubbles. Every new dot-release I have to go back into /System/Library/Messages/Plugins/Balloons.transcriptstyle/Contents/Resources/balloons-modern.css and change their max-width: up to 80% or whatever again. It's nice that I can do this, but why not at least fucking make it a preference?
