Every election is the most important one.

Re; billionaires. This guy wrote a book about basic income and presumably because he's Dutch (and we're brainwashed to believe that taxes are working), when he was invited to the Davos world economic forum he spoke his mind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5LtFnmPruU

Is there any truth to this:

https://wokesloth.com/trump-voters-furious-tax-plan/jessi/

Is is this just wokesloth wishful thinking?

I can't tell (not turning off my ad blocker, so that site covers itself up modestly). But there's this: https://twitter.com/stevemorris__/status/1092807628147879939?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

But there's this, which seems to be the same: https://www.rawstory.com/2019/02/trusted-trump-voters-seethe-realizing-theyre-getting-screwed-gops-tax-plan/

I looked at two of the purported tweeter's accounts, and cannot verify either is a real person. One almost exclusively retweeted (Catholic and right-wing stuff); the other at least tweeted some personal photos (AND retweeted right-wing stuff).

We should reject the politics of revenge. Odd philosophy to come from a man who basically set fire to everything Obama even looked at.

But isn't this classic Trump (or the GOP for that matter)? Up=down and all that?

The twitter accounts on the Rawstory.com story seem real, but I'm afraid many of the Trump voters will blame anything but Trump and/or the GOP.

The real outrage will come in April when the people who wait to file because they know they're going to owe learn that they owe a hell of a lot more than they thought they would.

A lot of my R friends on FB are saying they are getting money back, I asked so did the total taxes they paid go down or up? Silence.

Wait until 2020 when some of the other provisions of the tax bill kick in.

In my personal case, I now can't deduct charitable donations. Thaaaaat's great.

Can't remember where we were talking about Youtube and rabbit holes, but I will say I found this great piece on understanding Steve Bannon (from a hunky British not-really-firefighter) at Philosophy Tube via h.bomberguy.

I wonder whether this was intentional in that they were trying to restrict funding sources to progressive causes (if I remember rightly the Bernie Sanders campaign had lots of “micro payments”etc )

I’ll bet there is still something in place for if you’re making big donations and have a high income (Aka the GOP donor base)

I'm thinking this is going to be a VERY bad year for 501(c)3 organizations once everybody learns that they've lost most of the tax benefits from donations. Churches are going to feel it. That alone is going to haunt the right-wing.

Yup the numbers are staggering http://www.nonprofitlawblog.com/tax-cuts-and-jobs-act-new-tax-law-impact-on-nonprofits-fundraising/ and a couple non-profits I work for have already felt the pinch.

It's not out of line to say "good job, Republican party" to this one, is it?

Per McConnell, Trump will sign the spending bill... and simultaneously declare a national emergency. Thus starting a court battle which I'm guessing will run through the next election cycle.

And give a new narrative to undermine the validity of the legal system and laws, after doing that to the fourth estate, the other political party, human decency, and so on.
