his tongue went click click click as his head hit the basket after the guillotine's blade had sliced it cleanly. for a few seconds his eyes blinked and a reddening of the cheeks was noted by the attending physician. the crowd howled in glee...

oh, i'm sorry, wrong topic. click click click is for camera/photo/digital photo discussions which seem to have a place in our hearts.

The zoom on the dmc-lx3 is only 2.5 and I think that might be your concern, but then there's the fab new g1 from panny in a monh. I will be glad to give reviews.

Who is we? What are the images and books?

myself and various people i work with. books generally considered "art books" at whatever fancy store you want (MoMa bookstore for example). lots of shots of landscapes and such.

not going to say its the same as a Hasselblad with a digital back attached, but for $500, dmc-lx3 can't be beat as a point and shoot for what i do. carry it with me every day.

Oh Dear...

Lack of a ship date will preclude me from drooling about the one with the Canon mount.

Wow the Epic 617 for stills is 261 mp. Considering that my 12mp camera has chewed up about 25gb on my hardrive in 6 months I had to think what that would do.

While that link was interesting, much of what it said was editorializing on falsehoods.

It was truthy, but not particularly fair and balanced :)

I was equally bemused at a RED employee who stated that Canon (and Nikon) would not produce a particularly good DSLR that also does video because of the company's lack of experience in video.

That bit of hyperbole aside this segment is shaping up quite nicely.
Despite all my "oh I don't bill so no way I'm going up the line..." mantra I am approaching the tipping point to getting a 5D Mk II -- sweet looking rig.

I don't get this company. Why are they producing these insane backs for lenses that can't handle those sensors? i have serious problems with my supposedly high end L glass and my 5d, so wtf? maybe if you were talking hasselblad backs, i guess.

here's my eye-candy and dammit, if my economic situation were better, i might well pull the trigger.

Yeah, that gives me wood too.

I wait patiently. In two years time, full-frame DSLRs will be common as dirt... and Cosina will make one with a cheap plastic body and a nice Sony chip... and a Contax/Yaschica mount. For $500. Then me and my Zeiss kit will pwn.

Meanwhile, someone else, possibly also Cosina, will make full-frame 2-1/4" backs for press cameras, also around $500. Then me and my Linhoff metal and Schneider glass will pwn.

Until then, I wait, and plot, and think of a Pentax K200 with a 50mm Schneider lens.

...and while you wait, Soop, I will be paying off a 5d MkII that just shipped!

While it's a good thing that I'll be working (for the NFL here in Tampa) until the 2nd of February, you can bet I'll be bringing it to Greece with me on the next show :)

Jeff Cooper – January 15, 2009 11:26PM Reply Quote
Gee, Tom, what might you be doing for the NFL in Tampa that would end on February 2? Hmm...
