Ghost in the Shell is another great hacking movie. Although it was pointed out to me that there are far to many Anime hacking movies...

I've said it before... I loved the movie Hackers because it was so cheesy with it's l33t speak. They went so over-the-top with it that it was funny. It's still the most-watched DVD in my collection. I wonder if it's coming out in an HD format?

It doesn't look like it will be coming out any time soon, though. Sony owns MGM now so it would be a Blu-Ray title but it's not on any of the roadmaps yet. You know, I don't think I've watched that in the theater yet. I may have to do that soon.

I've got a stack of trailers I want to show at one of the guys nights.

Usually I convert everything for use on the mini and we do the whole movie going experience with popcorn. I could rip Hackers, setup a DVD with pre-show elevator music, trailers and the movie and bring it over...

I'm actually in the process of setting up my media server. I'm going to be encoding things as H.264 for playback on the PS3.

Hmmm. What program do you use for the media server now?

Allegro Media Server and Eyeconnect appear to be options...

I have had EyeConnect for a long time but never used it before. I got it for free a few years back because Elgato was offering a special at MWNY where you got a free license for EyeConnect (which hadn't been released yet) if you bought an EyeTV 500.

looks like you can get EyeConnect 1.5.1 free at VersionTracker--and is supports the PS3 media server type.

It's free for a 30 day trial. After that, it's $99 for a license.

It'd be cheaper to buy v.3 for $79.

That's just the EyeTV software which is the TV tuner/recording software. EyeConnect is the media server software and the latest version is 1.5.1.

And sad. They're the last two until the writers' strike ends.

It would have been the last two for them anyway. They've already had their first 13 episodes--which in many cases constitutes a first season.

No, they were picked up for a full 22 episode season. If the writers weren't on strike, they would have produced the "back nine".

Oh. Well I thought that most shows got a 6 episode trial and then were renewed for an additional 7. The back nine thing is new to me but it makes sense.

saw cloverfield tonight in an almost empty theater. tons of previews, which was good, because i got there late. hellboy 2 looks interesting (and they're promoting on the name of the director, which is interesting in itself). saw the ST teaser. definitely welders w/o spacesuits. oh, the movie? interesting style exercise, very dumb, jolting scares at times, though i wish the main cast hadn't been wb/cw-ready yuppies. maybe some real new yawkers ("no, fuck YOU, monster!") would've made it more fun or resonant.

the closing theme was a funny musical joke.
