What a journey.
I would vote yes. I mean, I've added second drive/ssd to my current one and the RAM is fairly easy to get to. This one I would bet is not that much different. So, get the CPU you want, and maybe if you ever think 10Gbit ethernet might be handy, that... then keep CCC alerts for SSD price drops. :)
2 TB can be had for under $300. Huge difference from $1400.

I'm intrigued by the mini. I'm trying to figure out if the integrated graphics are at least comparable to the GPU I have on the 2013 iMac.

The four thunderbolt ports give a lot of options however.

The new mini's GPU is slower than any 2013 iMac with a dedicated GPU.

This year it's June 3-7. Not sure what to make of the fact that it's a robot whose mind is being blown in the promo email.
