Apple's investment in its own chip designs is really paying off.
My son wants to go into chip design. Interview and likely offer with TI today as a matter of fact.
He LOVES this field/subject.

If my current phone is a 6s, what would I realize I'm missing if I go to an Xr rather than an Xs? Aside from the month earlier shipping.

Looks like the Xr vs Xs choice is pretty much just whether you want the amazing OLED screen or not.

No Mac Mini. ( Billsmith wept )

No new low-cost MacBook either! The Mac continues to wither on the vine tree.

ddt, don't ask and you won't be unhappy.

I don't know how the Apple people trained themselves not to say "ex-ess" or "ex-arr". I'll bet they had all the internal docs written with arabic numerals.

They traditionally keep Macs out of this one, don't they? See you in October.

I was also wondering how many working hours went into speech training so as not to say "tennis" when saying "ten ess". They did okay on that.

The Apple Watch 4 is certainly compelling for anybody with heart issues. It's pretty fantastic, actually. I should get one (just high BP but still). But I don't plan to. I'm selling my series 2 because Strava won't run on it anymore and a Wahoo Tickr pulse monitor is just as good for keeping tabs on my performance.

I am buying the Xs Max. I like the giant screen on it. People keep saying it's bigger than the 8 plus. The phone isn't just the screen.

I'm sick of the home button anyway. Hope the face recognition works.

I was going to hold onto my last-iPhone-with-a-home-button-and-touch-id iPhone 8 for another year or two, but my daughter's ancient iPhone 5S hasn't had a free byte of storage in a year. She won't let us buy her a new phone for ecology reasons, but she's more than willing to accept my phone as a hand-me-down. So I guess that I will be getting a Xs.

She could always get a good used SE from Swappa, but don't let me stand in the way of a new phone for you. :)

Huh, so looks like the Xs Max is only a bigger screen and marginally better battery life. In the theoretical world where I'd get a new one, I wouldn't have to get the Max since the cameras are identical.

Buy something here: https://www.apple.com/shop/browse/home/specialdeals/iphone
and then
do the gives back (trades in) on that phone of hers.

DONE
