In America, the only respectable form of socialism is socialism for the rich.
To what can we compare the iPod Touch/iPhone processor? What generation Pentium or Mac is it equivalent to?

It'd be cooler if it worked like this MIT thing I saw where the screen is a window into the world. You want to look straight up, you hold the iPhone above your head. It'd take more athleticism.

The iPhone's supposed to be a 620MHz ARM or thereabouts. Mmmm, Newton emulation (are today's ARMs still binary-compatible with the old StrongARMs?). What about a graphics chip?

The graphics shown are the low settings on Q3. I still recognize them by the sprite symbols for the ammo, and the blockiness of the shotgun, and the textures...

That would mean 450-500Mhz equivalent equivalent to 16-32MB graphics card, IIRC.

Hmmm.... A while back I used to get roughly 25-30 fps playing WOW on my iMac G5 (1st gen with the crappy 64MB video card). However recently, it's dropped to about half that. This is on days wehen the lag is quite low. Playing in Alterac Valley I get, like 3 fps which makes it basically unplayable.

What gives? Anyone else noticed a drop in performance lately?

My Pally is finally nearly level 60. I'll have to lvl up my druid again (stuck at 39 - haven't played it in 6 months)

Who here still plays?

Personally, from all the gamers that I talk with, successive tiger/leopard releases have made MY iMac G5's fps about halve themselves, too.

What a journey.

I haven't really played since my Druid reached 70. End game stuff really doesn't interest me. Might start another character if I can convince my younger brother to join in.

Turn off add-ons, rename your WDB and WTF directories, and above all check the Mac Technical Support forums at worldofwarcraft.com. They're actually pretty responsive and helpful, and somebody else has probably had your issue. What OS version are you on? 10.5.2 provided some real fps improvements, if you remembered to run the Leopard Graphics Update after installing it.

Anyone try Audiosurf by Steam on their Mac yet?

When Burning Crusade came out, I brought a Blood Elf mage from 1-70. Did almost all of the 5man Lvl70 content, but didn't do the big raids.

Have a 60 priest around, will probably bring that char up to 70 before the next expansion comes out, so I can just do 70-80 stuff.

Got 5 70's now, levelling a Belf Pally from 60 to 70 now. Now that you can get arena-quality gear from battlegrounds, I'm trying to upgrade a few of my 70's to serious gear.

Wait what, I haven't played in a while... there's new BG rewards or something?

In addition to badges, you get honor from battlefields. Honor may be spent like money to buy PvP gear (along with badges). The best gear is from Arenas (where you earn yet a different kind of currency). The first season of Arena gear has been made available for purchase for battlefield honor points. This means that if you can buy pretty decent gear just by playing enough battlefields. The season three arena gear is even better, of course, but you have to have quite a good arena team to earn enough points to buy it.

man, i have to spend a few hours looking back at the strongbad archives... haven't seen that in a while.

anyone tried a cider-based game on an intel mac? are any out yet?

Curtis – April 16, 2008 10:22AM Reply Quote
There's quite a few out, I tried Battlefield 2142 for a while which I think was one of the first ones out using Cider. It ran fine on my MacPro 2.66 / X1900XT, but well, I'd sure hope it would. Not really any buggier than most ports I've seen.

Heh... Not me. Not where I got it. I actually was a huge fan of the Vlad Taltos series by Steven Brust.

I know that dude.

He lives in Minnesota and attends Minicon and every year.

I don't know if he goes to CONvergence.

He likes to play poker.

In the spirit of "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" here's my pally. Apparently the only character named "sporkles" on ANY server. Heh. Trying to get some more pvp gear but you kinda get owned playing WSG or AB when you're level 60 against lvl 60-69.

Alterac valley is better tho.
