I have no context for that... but the sizes of heat sinks is plain idiotic.

The context is Intel’s engineering / manufacturing is so bad, Moore’s law is essentially dead for them, so the only way to increase their CPU performance is to ramp up power usage to ridiculous levels. For more, you can watch this short video, this long one, or just read the rumor mill

Interesting rumors about Sony, Apple, and AMD.

So I might be able to game on a MacBook Pro in 2021... right around the time that Apple switches to ARM. Damn them.

I'm selling/disposing of my Razers. The 14" was a good machine, though with a last-generation GPU, but the 17" had power problems that meant running half my games at lower settings than the machine should have supported.

For a fraction of the cost, bought an MSI GS35, and it is an amazing freaking machine. My games play better, it's more portable than the 17" Razer, and it has the BEST KEYBOARD I've used on a laptop in years. Trackpad is meh, as it is on all Windows machines, and I wish that there was more storage, but especially for the price it is an amazing gaming laptop.

what is the 14" razer going for?

Heh, haven't set a price on it yet. (I've been waiting until the MSI's two-week return period is over to make the switch official, in case anything blows up). Maybe around $600 with a bag and two AC adapters? I have no idea what used Razers sell for.

This is a review of my model.

I fought (and recorded) a battle in Eve Online last night that lasted over an hour. That’s too long to watch of course, so I shrunk it to less than 5 minutes and posted it on YouTube. Now I need to learn more about Final Cut Pro (iMovie can't handle 2560x1440 video).

On another axis of the gaming spectrum, played and really enjoyed Donut County (available on Steam for the Mac and iOS).

VMWare now supports DirectX 10.1 through Metal. Good news for older Windows games on the Mac.

Donut County was superfun. Cute writing.

Pity about how OpenGL withered on the vine...

Loved Donut County -- it felt fully realized (the details were sweated), and it was fun, and the Los Angeles (sort of) cameo was fun for me.

I haven't played many games on the Mac for a while but today I tried Diablo III.

God, I remember why I nearly failed multiple Uni subjects thanks to Diablo I & II.

I was nearly not going to bother as the specs say 4GB VRAM minimum. It performs fine on my 2013 iMac at full resolution.

I really don't think Apple cares about games for OS X, especially since the ecosystem for iOS is so robust (where have we heard that before?).

I am a real gaming PC convert after seeing how cheap it was to get something that ran circles around consoles. I still have the PS4 for exclusives (loved Detroit Become Human), but now play on my gaming PC.

Funny how personal preferences and framings diverge. I'm curious about the Nintendo Switch because it's small and I could pick it up and put it down (maybe it's a "how much room you got" issue in part).
