What's going on in the industry news that specifically relates to Apple and the Mac?

Hideously Unnatural
I pulled the trigger on the launch of MacEdition earlier today.

I wasn't intending it to be a big fanfare-laden re-launch, so I pinged a few folks with the hopes that they'd link to it.

I rolled a social-bookmark feature into the site, so stories can be easily dugg or reddit or what have you.

If folks could check out the front page and do some digging that would be great.

Also, if you feel like helping me figure out what we should be writing about, I'm looking for ideas on analysis pieces. Those suggestions should go in this forum.

There are a couple of other forums in the "MacEdition Gristmill" which are places where you can suggest Podcasts or Vidcasts.

Lastly, if you're interested in writing or generating other content, let me know so that I can parse out the writing once ideas have been suggested.

owned by the mothership.
and THAT'S what the iTunes movie rental needs to be a success! There's so little you actually want to own, you just want to watch it for 5 minutes....

and if it could be billed without the titles.....

Look for fewer posts at TUAW.

>and bloggers[...] at the Unofficial Apple Weblog [...], who are paid by the post, have been told to stop posting until July 31 to cut costs.

ahahaha... joe took over apple watch from me after ZDE had its night of the long knives, firing all senior-but-not-management.

did _not_ click through, but just from the summary: that metric is bullshit, pure and simple. "average cost" across all offered? APPLE DOES NOT MAKE SUPER-LOW-END COMPUTERS. NEVER HAS. Huffy bikes, "on average", are x times cheaper than Bianchis. Bianchi does not make a $99 bike. They do make competent $400 bikes, though, which, unlike the Huffys, will get you from A to B w/o falling into smaller pieces of crap along the way.

basically: "yeah, so?"

and macs are, "on average", less flavorful than mcdonald's happy meals.

I've never bought a Huffy.

I have three Bianchis and a Gary Fisher (from before Trek? bought it)

boy, they must be desperate for content at wired.

there used to be a web site "friends don't let friends ride shimano" -- closest i could find in a quick search was: http://www.campyonly.com/

(miss campy, been on dura-ace for a while, waiting to build up a SRAM Red bike)
