Ugh, so tired of being so tired and feeling like perpetual crap day in, day out. Just venting. Trepination, anyone? ddtby ddt - Spork Central
(Waiting for half-gig video of usability test to save down to smaller file size...) Thanks! Be sure to add a comment, esp if you have any examples/links you think are good. ddtby ddt - Spork Central
Possibly the BEST REACTION EVER to Star Trek No Punctuation Please Darkness: http://io9.com/star-trek-into-darkness-the-spoiler-faq-508927844 There are spoilers. Please read, and don't enable Abrams by giving him money. Grab a torrent some day so you can watch it in a few chunks later. Plenty of BigDumbMovies in theatres now and soon. ddtby ddt - Spork Central
Article I wrote the other week went online: http://blogs.kqed.org/pop/2013/05/20/san-francisco-the-epicenter-of-visual-storytelling/ ddtby ddt - Spork Central
OT: I love in the second listed scene how flustered John Connor gets when he says "... I don't know tech stuff". I feel that way a lot when dealing with app design. ddtby ddt - Spork Central
Bill, if you liked the writing (I cannot watch Spielberg movies, I admit), you can check out Tony Kushner's famous "Angels in America", and read Doris Kearns Goodwin's "Team of Rivals". Kushner wrote the screenplay, and the story was based on Goodwin's research. And I'd recommend looking up her appearances on the Daily Show and/or Colbert. A friend of mine met her, and said she is a blast in perby ddt - Spork Central
It's still a highly subsidized commodity in the States -- even that price doesn't represent the real cost. (Though of course gas stations and companies do gouge; so did the home heating oil company sicced the BBB on back in Boston.) ddtby ddt - Spork Central
Thanks, may be a moot point... . New business: Anyone have advice on how to sign in to a Google Group w/o using a gmail/google account? Google documentation says, sure, you can do that -- and then doesn't say how. ddtby ddt - Spork Central
Well, I don't know if this is props to the author, the screenwriters, or the actors (the actors definitely nailed it), but the "don't be greedy" line reading was genuinely fantastic. I don't know if actual parents feel that way at that moment, but I'd like to think so. ddtby ddt - Spork Central
Well, this could cut the Gordian knot of the gun issue. ddtby ddt - Spork Central

Johnny, can you empirically survey which politicians are driving these "imagined conspiracies and endless hearings", let alone secret holds, religion-driven causes, and just saying no? Perhaps find a correlation between that and their party or party leadership? In other news, I'd love feedback from people more tuned in to rap and hip hop: "Greatest conservative rap songs of all time". I mean, Biby ddt - Spork Central

Good to see you've gained back some weight, El Jefe. Though I'm not sure teal is your color. ddtby ddt - Spork Central
Some large progressive groups are pulling their ads on FB in protest of Zuck's choice of some partners. Looks like Elon Musk is out, too. Granted, they were pretty blatant about how self-centered their "forward" causes were. They need to learn not everyone thinks that their success is everyone's benefit, and need to learn how to play the "pitch for political position" game. It's not surprisingby ddt - Spork Central
I think it was just that some people were hoping the Littlest Tyrant would get, dunno, killed by shit crammed down his throat or something similarly unpleasant soon. ddtby ddt - Spork Central

Sorry, baha, just reading all the connections and devices above made me dizzy. Long-shot ask: Anyone in the SF bay area have a spare laptop they can loan/lease out for a month? It has to have wifi, clean browser, and can support running Silverback (http://silverbackapp.com). I don't think my janky laptop will be workable for usability testing. ddtby ddt - Spork Central

Good point. Sometimes that is the proper response in factual disagreements, though! ddtby ddt - Spork Central
Snappy, science-based rejoinders to climate change deniers. ddtby ddt - Spork Central
I don't know... the Quinto model they're using these days lists "simulates actual human emotions" in the specs, but I'm not seeing it. ddtby ddt - Spork Central
Is that kind of quick shoot-to-distribute turnaround standard these days? That'd be impressive. (Not a comment on the quality or lack of, just on the process.) ddtby ddt - Spork Central
Speaking of... So much fan pandering by marketing types, but Nimoy cursing and the pinch worked for me: http://io9.com/old-spock-battles-new-spock-in-the-greatest-car-commerc-493836696 ddtby ddt - Spork Central
A friend of mine who's a big ice climber was all about "That's not how you do that! You wouldn't summit, you'd DIE!" She also found the dragons less than true-to-life. ddtby ddt - Spork Central
That's interesting... replacing/adjusting disc brakes on my mountain bike (Avid hydraulics) is much more of a pain. Once you have the bike secure in a stand, you have to do things like loosen the rotor and caliper bolts, spin the thing for a while, clamp down on the brake lever a few times, tighten things up only _so_ tight, and then... the rotor drags. ddtby ddt - Spork Central
