I can empathize with him. Still waiting for retirement paperwork to slosh around the beauracracy.

All the syndicated shows were distributed on vinyl at one point, even American Top 40. The royal bitch was having turntables that were a nudge slow (small-market radio at its finest). That screwed up getting 60 minutes of show in 60 minutes.
That reminds me, I've plopped a few stories/pictures (Multi Media, natch) from waaaay back in the day on my Facebook timeline. Come on down...

I saw a bit of that with my parents. Dad was always pretty jovial, so he was able to cover the dementia with humor. It wore on Mom, though. Their chronic conditions, RA for Dad and fibromyalgia for Mom compounded the discomfort.
I can tell Mom is coming around as she is grumbling about fibro flares again.

Prayers for you and your family, Baha.
By his doctor's orders, my sister and I placed Dad in the same nursing home that Mom is in (they're in the same room.) While Mom is slowly regaining strength, Dad's hold on the present is slipping away. Fortunately, he was willing to be admitted to relieve the stress of trying to live on his own.

Plus, FOX will NEVER stop broadcasting over-the-air. Most of the 27 stations they own (not all are FOX affiliates) will instantly lose millions of dollars in value.

I've watched TV over-the-air for 20 years, but I'm an electrical engineer with an interest in antennas and propagation. I DO have cable, but only for internet access.

I would assume the recent avalanche of iPad ads, at least on CBS, have nothing to do with any of this.

Recently saw an older NOVA episode on dogs. A few interesting bits o' knowledge:
* grey wolves are the closest wild relative. However,
* you can't raise a wolf pup like a dog and get a domesticated animal
* you can, however, breed grey wolves selectively for gentleness and get dog-like behavior
(there's been a breeding experiment running since the '50s in theUSSR/Russia that proves this)
* dog

When I wear what I consider shorts (above the knee), my kids accuse me of wearing booty shorts. They have no idea what they are talking about.

Via mobile Safari on iOS 5.1.1, I did see stars, but one was below and left of the others each time.

Congratulations, Tony.
Yesterday, I had to sit across from my ex in a court waiting room before our son's accident citation was called. Very uncomfortable for me despite harboring no felicitous feelings toward her. Must have been the depression despite my doing better.

I've had a Panasonic plasma for a year and have been really pleased with it.

I could never criticize the ex. She would always accuse me of yelling at her when I tried, and that accusation put more pressure on me to be right. With the deepening depression, I never had enough confidence to sure I was right. So, more stuff piled up and I cared less and less until there was no care left. Plus depression.
I believe her acknowledgement of some responsibility is very important.

My prayers are with you, Bill. It looks like my mom has decided to not get better, even though there's no reason she can't. Depression is such a beast.

I agree with you 100%, ddt. Many of my Facebook friends in this area, a GOP corner of Virginia, have been posting "Oh, woe!" statuses. After studiously avoiding posting anything political during the campaign, I finally had to had to step in with some fact checking. It is shocking how completely people accepted the GOP premise that we can cut everyting but defense AND cut taxes and turn this ship

Caught some nostalgia in a bottle this weekend - a '96 Ford Taurus wagon with only 73,000 miles that's 90% like the one I had 15 years ago. Although it no longer reflects the state of today's cars, it was a solid ride with really comfortable seats. Plus, that was a far happier time in my life.

This has probably been the most difficult snow event to deal with since 1977, if ever. They had to get a backhoe in to dig out the driveway, for example.

I finally heard from my former in-laws. This is news because they live outside of Terra Alta, WV. Sandy delivered 30 extremely heavy inches of snow to their area. Many, many trees have been lost, so there is no estimate for getting the power back on.

Sandy's slightly more northern track pretty much spared my area. The almost complete rebuilding of the grid after Isabel in 2003 probably helped, too. My good fortune comes at Baha's expense, though. NYC got hit hard, with a 13 foot storm surge leading to flooding of tunnels and the subway.

Oh, goody. I'm getting Sandy for my birthday. Who needs power for five days?
Note: my corner of Virginia is in the very southern edge of the "cone of uncertainty" in that image.

Down 11 pounds in a month, so I'm slightly less corpulent. Finally able to wear a few large shirts.
