My point is the cost to the US is something that benefits many countries - some more so than the US - yet they often have higher gas prices, even though we're paying for the patrols. Thus, how could anyone say that our gas is cheaper than other countries (subsidized) because we aren't accounting for the cost of our patrols, when nobody else is either?

QuoteYDDAt the risk of running into politics.... what about the cost of protecting tankers coming out of the Persian Gulf?
That's the cost of being a global economic hegemon, not a gas subsidy. Taxes that raise the price of gas in other countries aren't there to fund our naval escorts, even though other countries need them more than us.

That won't solve the problem of transfer pricing, which requires better IRS regulations. The Flat Tax is just a slogan Republicans use to convince country bumpkins to raise taxes on ordinary people in order to cut them for rich people.

Bill, buying a former meth lab in Richmond to save on housing costs may be fine for yourself, but I wouldn't recommend it for a family with kids - which you still have, right?

What would or have any of you in hiring authority done if/when someone would say "Hire me or it'd be a shame if your kid had an accident?"
This is why I don't put myself in a position of authority.
Call the police / CHP / HR / CEO, and anyone else I could think of.

...lose to 70 percent of firearms recovered in Mexico over the last five years can be traced back to the US.
It's even higher for Canada which, as I mentioned earlier, is not exactly a hell-hole of corruption, murder, and gun violence:

At least you're no longer denying that Democratic policies are pretty much the same as Republicans' these days. Democrats won the Presidency and both houses of Congress in 2008, and despite suffering the worst economy since the Great Depression, re-won the Presidency, increased their Senate majority, and won the popular vote for the House in 2012, yet none of the policies on my list are any diffe

Your post was a complaint about people who think the two major US parties are the same. So tell me, what's the policy (not PR propaganda, but actual legislation on the table and departmental staff/budget allocation) difference between the two parties when it comes to the following. And don't tell me about some back-bencher's fringe proposal – tell me what the power players are doing about:

Exactly - diversionary tactics (look at CPAC!!!!!!) does not help fix real problems (regulatory capture of Congress and the White House by criminal enterprises, regardless of which party wins the election).

That comparison was the use of manned police cars (or helicopters) vs. unmanned surveillance drones. If the former is Constitutional, why not the latter? Similar to the comparison of manned sniper rifles vs. unmanned, armed drones.

Umm... DDT was asking about domestic drone strikes, not what we're doing overseas. Personally, I'd expect a lot more collateral damage and civilian casualties from a drone strike than say... a dozen FBI agents with firearms, so I'm not sure why anyone would take such an approach.

Prices always fall for technology. That's why Apple keeps adding more advanced components to its products (screens, SSDs, metal enclosures, etc.) - so the price of the product itself doesn't fall.
