I want to start a reality show: "Dancing with the Starks." Obviously, it would be an elimination tournament...

OK. My point was that harsh gun control did not alter homicide rates from the previous trendline. Your point was that there were fewer mass shootings. This, to me, seems like your primary concern was with how people died rather than how many people died. I'm sorry that you feel that I set up a straw man argument. I won't continue the discussion.

I found none for mine. It wasn't a major hassle for me, as I use an external mouse. Just held my hands up as I typed, which is ergonomically better anyway. Sorry.

now I know WHY the mightywallet comes with slips of tyvek with info on them. I pass them out like candy.
That would probaly account for the huge increase in tyvek-related chokings amongst youngsters in your vicinity.

I lied. Full charge with 240V is about 8 hours, with 110V it's more like 15-16 hours. I never run the car down to empty and charge it to 80% with a 240V charger overnight, so I never really notice the charging times.

There are special, commercial, high voltage chargers that can give you an 80% charge in 30 minutes. I've never used one, don't even know where one is. They're mostly for long distance travel, and are (theoretically) positioned along highways. The manual for the car says not to use them too often, or battery damage may ensue. With a 240V home charger, an 80% charge might be four hours or so (t

One of the reasons the stock is down is because the market is up; people pulled their money from safe havens like gold and AAPL and put it into the wider market. If the market crashes, I see money going back to the safe havens, and Apple's P/E makes it an excellent buy. Not everybody is looking just to gamble on the next big thing.

I saw that, and was really annoyed at how pleased everybody was over the drop in gun homicides, and how they ignored the fact that the overall homicide rate continued in line with the pre-gun-control trend.

I saw that, and was really annoyed how pleased everybody was over the drop in gun violence, and ignored the increase across the board in non-gun violent crime.

Nope. Great car, so far. Uneventful commutes every day. Sometimes the whole family takes a trip together in it on the weekends.

Yeah, I've been eagerly awaiting that one. Loved the trailer, though it wasn't in-game footage. They re-released the original Cyberpunk 2020 recently. I still have my original. Never played it but, boy, I wanted to. Should be getting my Traveller 5th Edition and pdf's of the original Traveller in the next few weeks. I may die of nostalgia.

I think that, in Canada, handguns are fairly heavily controlled. Need to get the permission of the local chief of police to own one, or something like that. Rifles and shotguns are much less heavily controlled, hunting being important there and the need for self-protection from wildlife not unusual.

I think that's the point, El Jeffe. If you're too cost conscious to get cable, then Bay Area prices might cause your cerebellum to explode.
I've avoided going to San Francisco in part because I think I would love it and there's no way in hell that I could afford to live there. Of course, there's more to the Bay area than SF. But I don't think the prices get much better.

What would or have any of you in hiring authority done if/when someone would say "Hire me or it'd be a shame if your kid had an accident?"
Tell the applicant that he just gave me detailed contact info for himself and his references, and that I am a firearm owner, and that he should try to have a nice day.

Perhaps one cartel secured a dominant position that it was able to hold for a few years, reducing internecine struggles, perhaps government policies secured a temporary respite, there might be a thousand reasons. I don't think our drug money and firearms are the only reasons that Mexico is having problems, but I think we're pouring gasoline on what would otherwise be a minor brush fire. You don

So the billions of dollars of drug money and thousands of firearms smuggled south annually are unconnected to the extreme violence of the drug cartels' struggles there? Good to know.
