I know I'm not the only one here to dabble in old toys and technology. What retro entertainment do other people enjoy?

A Pismo that I keep in my office saved my behind the other day. I realized about ten minutes before class that I had left my MacBook Air's Mini Displayport-to-VGA adapter at home and so wouldn't be able to use it for Powerpoint. A quick resave of the file into Office 97-04 format, save to USB key, start up the Pismo (this was easily the longest part of the process), transfer the file from the USB key, launch Office 2001, everything's in place, plug the projector's VGA connecter into the back of the Pismo, and I'm in business. Jag-wire, baby!

I'm bidding on a complete IIgs system right now on eBay. Wish me luck.

Bizarre. So they non-marketed it? Brilliant.

I remember demoing that gus card to the local Apple ii sig back in the day. We had the lc under wraps. Demoed it as the newest apple ii. Then pulled off the wraps and said it also ran Mac software.

The LC card wasn't Gus. Gus was a software Apple IIgs emulator that Apple only distributed on a limited basis under NDA.

A friend send me a text this morning, his father in law died and now they need to clean out the house and garage that's next to it. Since it housed his collection of 90+ Apple computers, he is asking to pick up the stuff that I gave him years ago. So, I'll be receiving one dead Lisa/Mac XL and one (more or less) complete NeXT slab.
The wife is happy with me. Not.

Maybe tliet's friend's father-in-law WAS Johnny K!

I'd like to resurrect the Lisa. I remember when I first got a Lisa. I must have been in 1990 or so. My mom was doing her thesis on it, in Lisa Office. It was magic at the time, Windows 3.1 3.0(!) hadn't been released even. So to see a machine doing all these magic things like opening/restoring documents after being turned on and cleaning things up while turning off.

Got this back from a friend I gave it to 6 years ago:
Sadly, the harddisk seems shot; if anyone has a SCSI disk laying around, I'll gladly take it off your hands.

I might have one in my box of drives, not sure if they are any good though.

Looks like a NeXT machine.

Yep, NeXT ColorStation. 18 years old and still going strong! (although the disk only works when it's deep frozen)

That shouldn't be a problem during your Hans Brinker winters.

What was the story about Dutch winters? That the water in the port froze and Dutch warships were captured by French cavalry?
[EDIT]
This was it:

And, yes, this is directly related to the SCSI drive on Tliet's NeXT.

There's frozen water in its port?
