I know I'm not the only one here to dabble in old toys and technology. What retro entertainment do other people enjoy?

Commodore
Atari
Coleco
Intellivison
Pong
Merlin
Simon
Betamax
LaserDisc
CD-i
8 Track
Windows XP
Etc.

There's a NeXT cube (with keyboard, monitor, etc.) on eBay right now. It's at $51 with 16 hours left in the auction.

Someone tell me I shouldn't bid on it.

What a journey.
Just buy a NeXT emulator for your iPod Nano. :) It's likely faster

You shouldn't bid on it, because I don't want competition. Though I don't need another system to collect dust - I just want a magnesium planter.

I actually placed a low bid shortly after the listing was posted.

Hrm. I'm sure it's going to get jacked up pretty high at the end.

I want another NeXT system, but I have nowhere to put it and wouldn't use it. I just love the look of them. Maybe I could set it up in my cubicle at work, just to baffle the other engineers.

They're so young. I had to explain to one about disk-swapping 5.25" disks to run a program... OS on one, program/data on the other. It was like he was hearing Grandpa talk about hitching horses to a wagon. I'm so old.

I didn't get it. It sold for $255.

I decided to RTFM.

The ProDOS Manual.

I found a PDF of it online but it was a quick-and-dirty scan job. I'm reading it on my Nook Color so I want to avoid wasting screen real estate on the spiral binding and extra space past the edges of the pages so I loaded it up in Preview.app and cropped each page.

It's now quite readable. Time to learn about Apple II.

I wanted one, back in the day, to try and play PC games under SoftPC on my Mac IIci. Fortunately, Cyberian Warehouse would convert PC 5.25 floppies to PC 3.5 floppies, which I could read directly. Of course, games on SoftPC still sucked.

Oh, I'd so love a browser version of the old Apple II game "The Prisoner".

Then again, I'd love a way to play Full Throttle and Grim Fandango.

I miss Wings of Fury and Karateka. I've played the latter in emulation, but it wasn't the same.

Well, you can get The Last Express.

I also want Nine Princes in Amber, and Neuromancer. (I can play Neuromancer on iDOS on my iPad, but it's not the same.)

Speaking of Centipede in other thread, I was talking to co-worker and the Centipede operator's manual was at his desk. The arcade game. We have one at work. Funny to see the repair guide/operator's manual just lying around.

I have a Centipede arcade machine here at home.

Back in 2006, Mokers was kind enough to help me acquire a large lot of Commodore 64, Commodore 128 and Amiga hardware and software. I've sold some of the software already but now I'm finally getting around to organizing what's left so I can get rid of most of it on eBay.

But there's a problem.

Some of the software falls into the "adult" category. Titles like:

Centerfold Squares
Romantic Encounters at the Dome
Hollywood Poker
Teenage Queen
Sex Olympics
Planet of Lust
Strip Poker
Sex Vixens from Space

Selling these on eBay would require me to list them in the Adults Only category and I somehow suspect your average Retro Geek is going to go hunting there for vintage pixel porn. I may have to just throw these games away since I really have no desire to keep them in my collection.
