thanks guys. in the end i gave up and reinstalled. i'd like to add her company's domain so she could see her work servers. is that impossible without corporate IT help? I set her vpn up no problems so she can use exchange...

but...

now i'm having a new, really fucked up problem.

I haven't had ANY trouble with my airport in a year. i go away to my wife's parents house for xmas. they have a shit-ass wireless router (one of my old ones). It would disconnect at random, it was like that when i owned it. now I get home and my macbook pro (dumb name) is disconnecting from my router constantly. it seems like if bluetooth is on, its worse. any thoughts?

owned by the mothership.
Yep. choices for larger drives are the Sonnet IDE card for PCI equipped macs or the Speedtools driver for anything else.

Auw, that must have hurt. You could buy separate RAID IDE controllers back then, maybe they still make those.

Took some pictures yesterday on my iPhone. They loaded into iPhoto as created December 30, 2008. So they don't show up in my new recent smart folder. Is there a way I can change the photo dates?

Bruce: One of these?

What do you guys use to record your desktop for creating flash presentations for learning? I am trying to create a how-to video for a simple application. I am thinking something like the old macromedia breeze but priced for mere mortals. Basically users use flash to view a short video of me narrating screen clicks and the like.

The Dryad is still getting used to the new home,
Thanks.

I would use Snapz Pro for the screen capture, and then record the audio track during using quick time. Combine them in iMovie, convert to flash. You can also use Final Cut if you are familiar enough with that.

Regarding iPhoto dates - actually this is built in! Got this info at dBug:

In iPhoto, select the photo(s) you want to modify, and choose "Adjust Date and Time..." from the "Photos" menu.

Simon – January 01, 2008 09:55PM Reply Quote
hmmm, does it let you adjust minutes or only hours? I have a bunch of photos shot on two cameras that were 1:04 out of sync. I was able to use lightroom to correct for the hour but not the four minutes so the photos are still slightly out of order.

Hours minutes seconds

I'm clueless. The http://myspace.com/radio48 link completely locks up my fresly installed Windows XP laptop. In either Firefox 2.0.0.11 or IE7.

Anybody out there with a work machine (Windows) that is willing to click the link to see if it also hangs your system? Or a Mac for that matter?

WARNING: CLICKING LINK MAY LOCK UP YOUR SYSTEM, FORCING YOU TO TURN OFF YOUR MACHINE.

Worked for me. XPsp2, Safari 3.0.4

I don't know what's wrong with the damn laptop, in VMWare it works fine, but in the actual host OS the whole frikking machine freezes whether I use IE or FF. Haven't tried Safari since I want to keep the machine as clean as possible. But since my Bluetooth stack started complaining about the license being expired (WTF?) I will probably start from scratch again tomorrow.

Sigh... It was stable before I reinstalled it...

Tliet, worked for me. XP SP2 FF 2.0.0.11

With regard to presentation recording, thanks for the suggestions. I also found http://www.qarbon.com/ I will let you know what I find out.

Leopard install issue:

Trying to upgrade my sister's MacBook from Tiger. It wouldn't upgrade because the disk supposedly wasn't in the right format even though it was journaled, etc. Found that it might be because she had used TechTool to create an eDrive emergency partition, so I used Disk Utility to remove that and add it to the main partition. Currently, it will still not do an upgrade install, and the disk icon is a generic file icon. I even restored to the disk image that I backed up to beforehand. It won't show up in Startup Disk either, so it doesn't look like I can go back. I really don't want to do a clean install because she may have some programs that she can't necessarily reinstall now. Any ideas?

Make sure that the Partition Type (under Options) in Disk Utility's Partition screen is set to GUID.
