Just got home from the game and went to put the SD card with my pictures into its adapter so that I could transfer the pictures to my computer.

Umm... why do people do this? By this, I mean risking damage to their memory cards by repeatedly removing (and reinstalling) them from a camera (or other device) instead of downloading directly from the camera with a USB cable?

Fair question, James, and I'm certainly going to change my practices going forward. Doesn't help me much at the moment, though.

Yeah, it really sucks to miss a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity like that. Not that it necessarily had anything to do with how you handled the card. At least you got to experience it in real life!

I was just wondering if there was some good reason that I didn't know about. We have a family member with a nice camera who couldn't take any pictures last Thanksgiving because she left her memory card in the reader at home.

What a journey.
seems like the cameras I have had are all standard mini/micro USB.
I thought the EU mandated all devices must have micro USB?

I think that the EU mandates that phones must be chargeable by micro USB, don't know if they extended that to cameras as well.

they make cameras that are NOT PHONES?
Unpossible

Got emailed a good photo of the drummers/drumline.
Anyone think they can spot my son?

But most of us don't know what your mailman looks like.

Update: no luck with Image Rescue 4. Photorec looks promising, but also intimidating, a Unix program with no GUI shell, and one that seems to require more knowledge than I have at the tip of my fingers (how is the card partitioned, for example?). But I'm going to exhaust my options here.

Personally, I've had good experiences with Flash Recovery from http://www.diskinternals.com/ But that was 8 years ago, not sure how they stack up against today's competition. (edit; just noticed it's a Windows application. I had forgotten I was fully on Windows at that time)

This was the yield when I grabbed in our USB cable box.

One cable fits the Samsung NX-10 that I bought a few months ago and it's not the micro USB cable. The other cable might be my wife's current (Olympus) or old (Panasonic) camera. Not sure.

Well, I have a phone interview with the CEO on Friday; hence the query about contacts. If I get in, who knows what I might be able to influence.

Good luck! And let us know what it is the company does (I'm too lazy to dig through their page and it's making my laptop fan go nuts).
