Got an OCZ Agility 3 SSD, installed it with the MaxUpgrades optical bay kit. Now for the painful slog over to using it as startup disk. Guess I'll clean install.

I need some video footage to finish a project that is due for a class project in about 7 hours.

What I need is something like this:

http://www.bbcmotiongallery.com/gallery/clip/368020_103.do?assetId=clip_14012959

Unfortunately, I have no budget and can't afford to pay out of my own pocket... and I don't want to just pirate anything. Anybody have something like this in their arsenal that they would allow me to use?

Can you leave a camera on a bridge?

I managed to get enough free stock footage to finish the video.

Can't say I'm terribly proud of the work but I didn't have a lot of time to do what I wanted to do with it.

Just got home from the game and went to put the SD card with my pictures into its adapter so that I could transfer the pictures to my computer. Plugged in the USB adapter. It took a long time to come up, and when it did ... everything appears to be gone. Everything. The "DCIM" folder is there, but it has nothing in it. There are two other folders, which I don't recall being there previously: one called "COSMIC" and one called "USB" with a series of symbols following.

My seat was in the 10th row in the end zone. I got some good pictures (I was checking throughout the game). But the most important to me is a series of pictures I took of my dad during the trophy ceremony, a smile I've never seen before on the man's face. PLEASE tell me there is some way to get these pictures.

There was a PowerPC Mac program that recovered photos from damaged or corrupt cards. We lost some valuable photos and it saved them. My memory was that it was about $80, though. I don't have it anymore, but I'll see if I can remember what it was.

Saw this. It's not what I used and may suck, or be a trojan. Caveat emptor.

This seems more reputable. Still not the one I used. If I remember correctly, mine was proprietary to one brand of card, made by the manufacturer, but worked on other cards as well. Sorry I can't find more. It was four or five years ago, and the half-life of my memories is about six months.

Thanks for the leads, JW. Anyone else have experience with these or other programs? I take it Data Rescue 3 is an option?

porruka (Admin) – February 05, 2012 08:26PM Reply Quote
Image Rescue is the one that immediately came to mind for me.

Jeff,

I've used photorec on full hard drives and data cards.

The Lexar software Porruka referenced is the software I used. It worked in the one case we needed it.

Data Rescue 3 has worked wonders for me.

Umm... why do people do this? By this, I mean risking damage to their memory cards by repeatedly removing (and reinstalling) them from a camera (or other device) instead of downloading directly from the camera with a USB cable?

In my experience every manufacturer insists on having a very own proprietary USB connector on the camera end. And after buying some cameras one has boxes full of leads which cannot be connected to the camera one wants to pull the pictures from.

I know it drives me nuts and I don't even bother. I do make sure to lock the SD cards though.

I don't think I've had a camera with a proprietary USB connector in the last 8 years. They've all been Mini USB or Micro USB.
