What a journey.
I just signed up for an account online. They sent me email to my gmail account. Using Apple Mail, it never showed up in my inbox. Searching found it in Gmail's "All mail" box.

Were you aware of this issue that some items in Gmail folders do not appear in the main/consolidated Inbox?

Hmm.

Okay, another request for recommendations:

I'm probably going to be travelling a lot this year, for family reasons. I need to bring my iPad and 11" MacBook Air with me. ( I need to read AND I need to play MMO's.) I want to get a single airline carry-on with two reasonably protected pockets for the iPad, the MBA, a USB charging cable and an adapter (with PlugBug). I won't be taking my external DVD drive or a lot of other apparatus.

I would like a small bag that will do this; the kind that will fit under an airline seat, not one to heft up to the overhead. Ideally, I'd like a nice one. Leather or leather insets, and decent padding rather than foam.

It doesn't look like anything is specifically designed for an 11" MBA AND an iPad (market opportunity!). I've seen recommendations for this (which doesn't look like it would have room for an iPad, let alone a power adapter) and this (which might be okay, but I've never seen in person)

Any experience with the above bags, or recommendations for others? Obviously, I can use a larger bag but I am trying for a more compact carry on experience.

I met with a Targus rep a month or so ago and she said that they are coming out with exactly what you describe. Let me see if I can find more information for you.

What a journey.
The Travel Show this week mentioned http://www.briggs-riley.com/ as having lifetime warranty, free repair, etc.
It's a good listen on how bad checked baggage can be. 1/8/12 http://bit.ly/xpEcuq (not sure which hour)
It's very expensive, but you can look-see.

Interesting. This one specifically mentions room for an iPad. Pricier than I want, but I'm saving the link.

Thanks, El Jeffe.

Yeah, I went to look at Targus cases after your previous post. It doesn't specifically mention an iPad, but it sure looks like that document sleeve would work. It's typical Targus woven fabric, but it's cheap. That's a big plus.

On the other hand, all I got for Christmas this year was a whoopee cushion. Seriously, I spent a thousand dollars on gifts for others and got... a whoopee cushion. Santa owes me. Maybe I'll tell my wife that she's getting me the Briggs-Riley case.

Thanks guys, two good finds.

Little unrelated, I know, but worth mentioning I guess. This year is the 10th year of my Targus backpack that I've been carrying everywhere. It's with me right now during our journey through India and it's not even showing obvious signs of wear and tear. The thing's indestructable and when it ever gives up the ghost, I'll look for another Targus.

Ton, maybe I missed something... you're traveling through India? Are you going to be in Bangalore? If you are, let me know so I can recommend somewhere to go while you're there.

Thanks! Yes, we've been travelling through India since Dec 17, arrived at and leaving from Bangalore coming Friday morning. We're in Chennai now, taking the train in 2 hours. We do have a place to stay around MG Road and I'm meeting a friend that I know there, if you got any tips for a good place to eat (from banana leaves if possible) I'm all ears.

Also, my wife would like to do some shopping (clothes and stuff), ant tips around MG road are also welcomed.

Cheers

Unfortunately, I don't know much in that area. There is a really unique restaurant near there that I went to a couple of times, though. It's called The Egg Factory and is well worth finding.

There is also a place called Hyderabad House on Richmond Road that has very good Biryani.

If you want kebabs, find Samarkhand on Infantry Road.

Otherwise, I spent most of my time in Koramangala, Indiranagar and Bellandur.

Indiranagar isn't too far from where you'll be staying, though. If you want a drink, go to Xtreme Sports Bar in Indiranagar... ask for Vinstant and tell him that you're a friend of mine.

If you want expensive, fancy food, go to the Leela Palace.

Thanks. In fact, upon closer look our hotel is just off Richmond Road, so that should be fairly easy to find.

Hm, I'm getting some bad vibes from my inner ear, probably infected. So I got some antibiotics (hurray for the pharmacies here) and have to take it easy. Looks like the only thing we'll get done tomorrow is a short visit to the Infosys campus, some shopping and hopefully a quick bite with my friend here.

The place for bags is http://www.tombihn.com/ I have had one of theirs for over 15 years now, expensive but well worth it. Also I have several business bags from http://www.briggs-riley.com/ again worth every penny.

Recommendations for playing a self-contained .swf file (The Final Hours of Portal 2.swf) on Snow Leopard? It won't open in a browser.

OK, this is a very basic blog with a child theme of the standard 2011 theme just to get rid of the wordpress blah, blah, blah in the footer.

http://www.brisbaneparking.org/

Bonus points for anyone who tells me how to get rid of the search bar in the black horizontal main menu.

Thanks,

Tony

Find the file with the div --class="only-search with-image"-- in it and remove that div (or change the only-search style in the css to display: none; )
