How long has the actually useful landscape mode been available in iPhone Calendar? I had given up on that idea and got pleasantly surprised this morning.

I'm getting really frustrated by the lack of decent keyboards available for Windows computers.

I finally just took a spare Mac keyboard I had laying around (the last generation white keyboard before they went to the aluminum models) and plugged that in. The problem with doing that, of course, is that the Command key uses the same scancode as the Windows key and the Option key uses the same scancode as the Alt key except their physical positions are reversed.

The Mac keyboard also has no Print Screen, Scroll Lock or Num Lock keys.

I have remapped the keys so Alt/Windows are where I expect them to be and I've made F14 the Print Screen Key, F15 the Scroll Lock key and F16 the Num Lock key. Sadly, the eject key doesn't appear to generate an actual scancode so I can't map it to anything. Oh well.

I'm planning on picking up one of the wired aluminum Apple keyboards (with the numeric keypad) if I can find a good price on one. I can't quite justify spending $50 on a new keyboard right now.

What, you don't like Cherry keyboards? http://www.cherrycorp.com/english/keyboards/Office/Business_Keyboard/index.htm

I can't believe these guys still exist...

What the hell is Scroll Lock, anyway?

These days it's really only used by old-skool programmers and as a trigger key for diagnostics.

EDIT: I stand corrected. Apparently spreadsheet masters use it frequently as well (when Scroll Lock is on, the arrow keys scroll the contents of the window instead of moving the cursor or highlighted cell).

I have yet another request to sell my domain name. I need to determine an appropriate price for it, though. If you have input, please PM me.

Anyone here ever have a BAD experience with Amazon? Something they did not 'make right' by you?
I have not.

Amazon is a mixed bag for me, customer-service-wise. I've certainly had tons of difficulty communicating with their Indian email drones and getting anything back that wasn't basically scripted copypasta. Also, they're far better at handling order-related problems (returns, credits, etc) than website-related ones -- there's a years-old bug with reviewers' RSS feeds that I keep trying to get in touch with someone who can fix, and I never am able to get past the discomprehending stonewalling of the frontline Indian email handlers.

I've had excellent customer service with order-related issues. Of course, given the amount that I spend through them, I ought to.

Do or have you guys done what I've done and instituted their "Universal Wish List"? --> Safari Extension is nice/handy

My big problem with Amazon is the sloppy quality of some of their kindle eBooks. Other than that, all peachy...

Amazon customer service is kind of incredible sometimes. I bought a generator for the power outage overnight (unfortunately, power went out Saturday so it only got here Tuesday… Sundays and Mondays are difficult these days due to their being an amazon next day desert) and it broke when I tried to start it. No replacement on gas powered appliances. The wait for warranty service is 3 weeks. So I told my wife to call. They sent a new one. Get the old one fixed and donate it…

Just please don't become one of those "WeThey didn't know it gave off carbon monoxide" stories featured on the local news each year.

I chalk those souls up to Darwin… Thank God for evolution, eh?

If it was intelligent design, then why wouldn't we just be able to breathe carbon monoxide?

I recently ordered one of those $199 Black Friday Xbox bundles. Unfortunately, my 24" Apple Cinema display doesn't have an HDMI input, so I'm thinking about selling it and buying something with HDMI. The available adapters stretch the image to fit my 1920x1200 resolution (instead of using black borders) and I don't want that, so I've written off that alternative. Does anyone have any suggestions? I need a decent 1080p screen that will work with both the Xbox and my MBP. I want something under $500 - preferably somewhere around $350 (32" HDTV, perhaps?).

Doubt it. It's not energetically feasible.

Check out the Dell 24 inch monitors, we have several of them (the 1920x1200 ones) and they have multiple inputs and should work well.
