Yep, so your machine is reported as a macmini1,1/Mac-F4208EC8 right now just like my Core Duo model was and is limited to 2GB RAM but with the hacks these guys are putting together, you will be able to upgrade to 3GB(4GB) at the very least and if they get the final details ironed out, you could completely transform your system into a macmini2,1/Mac-F4208EAA with full support for Lion.

Anybody know a good, free 64-bit Windows 7 RSS reader? Safari won't work through my IT department's proxy server. Not sure anything else will, either, but it's worth a try.

You're probably not going to find anything specifically 64-bit... there's no reason for an RSS Reader to be 64-bit.

I meant compatible, not requiring 64-bit. Sorry for my imprecision. At any rate, I just went with Google Reader so, aside from having given them more of my private info than I'd like, I'm good.

When I browse from work, I don't have the bandwidth to send a single extra byte. By IT's intent, I presume. It's like browsing with a 2400 bps modem.

On Windows, most software won't realise it's running on a 64 bit platform if it's not designed to take advantage of it. Any software, excluding DOS software, will run on 64 bit Windows.

Is there a tool or browser plugin that will parse through your bookmark list and create a parallel list of the DNS-resolved IP's of the sites? It seems like there might be situations where DNS, or at least American-based DNS, might be required to filter sites. I'm not talking child porn, but it looks like it may get very easy for people that own intellectual property to require ISP's to block access to allegedly infringing sites, or even sites that link to infringing sites.

sounds like a job for AppleScript.

Maybe; I was hoping that somebody had already written something.

Sounds like a necessary idea. Where would you get the IP mapping? Ultimately you may be asking for an alternate DNS server that we could add to our settings. Until that gets blocked. Eventually we'll need a P2P DNS solution.

I was just thinking of building a bookmark list of IP's. It would be brittle, but much better than nothing when the Huffington Post disappears from DNS because a comment there linked to a You Tube video that had a Black Eyed Peas song as background music.

I just upgraded the Mac Mini again.
I found a local guy who had a T7200 CPU for $26 so I pulled out the T5500 I had put in a couple weeks ago and replaced it with the T7200.
Now I'm thinking I should swap out the hard drive as well. That's the biggest bottleneck in this system right now.

If you have the 1.5GHz Core Solo in your system, you're looking at a HUGE performance increase with the T7200. About 40% better for single-threaded apps and about 150% better for multi-threaded apps.
My earlier statement, however, is wrong. The biggest bottleneck now is the Intel 945 graphics.
