What a journey.
Ron, did you watch the London fireworks? We just did. Spectacular. (a bit UN-green, though lol)

Thanks to Tom and all of you for another good year of Sporkicity. This time, you even put your money where your mouth is and helped me launch something big. Got a bit of a bump in the last few days from a big tech blog in Brazil and the blessing of Ashton Kutcher (as tweeted to his 9 million followers). 4 more days, and with some help I think we might hit $500K. I'm trying to show non-geeks how connecting things can be neat, so I made another video.

I think it's awesome that our group is this tight. You being the first to back Twine makes the 'virtual community' not seem virtual at all. Happy new year!
'Might' hit 500k? Might? That doesn't look like a might to me. That looks more like trouncing 500k. Very few groups with serious products manage 15x what they needed.
Well done.
Oh, and I voted for the amperage sensor just in case a sporker gets any extra pull.
Happy New Year!

Amazing results... of course, now comes the hard part.
I just pored over the list of backers and saw that, aside from Sporkers, there were other people I know in the list. That's cool, especially since I neglected to share the link with my friends. I thought that I had but I guess not.

It's cool that Ashton Kutcher shared the project with the world, mainly because of the amusement factor when reading through the idiots' comments on it:

Yeah, agreed - I don't think we actually got a lot of backers from him. Ever since Facebook allowed people to reply to people who aren't following them, Twitter-style, you get a lot of this idiot-comment-whoring. Noticed the same thing when Zuckerberg commented on someone else's posting. "OMG You are Mike Zuckeburg loved your movie!!"
I've recognized some names on the backer list, too. Big cheeses from Apple and MS and others. And Robb - kudos for slipping in at the end! My favorite Sporker, I'll make no bones about it.
Don't worry, JW, you won't have to pull any strings - the current sensor is going to win. I'm projecting that the third winner will be an RFID reader. I still want the high-temperature probe, though.

It was Tom who had a sensor preference; I am sensor agnostic. I'm just glad to watch Twine's climb to glory. And to help, in a tiny way.

Sorry, meant Alan. My eyes are defocusing after being at the computer since I got up.

A belated happy new year everyone, currently travelling through south India and got some catching up to do. Johnny, congrats with funding Twine, didn't get in, but wish I did.

My company will be doing substantial things (as a subcontractor) for NFLX this year.
Bill, if you are going to visit NFLX, let me know so I can tell you where on property I'll be!
(I can't really talk about what we're doing yet, but it involves a lot of Mac Minis!)

Tom, if I go, I'll look for you too.
I've been warned that the campus will be part of the Super Bowl madhouse, especially Friday-Saturday-Sunday. Fortunately, I don't teach those days.

Cool. Is NFLX short for NetFlix? Or something NFL and something X? (I'm such a football ignoramus)
Well, maybe Jeff, you and I can find a spare hour or two? Keep us informed.
I just noticed earlier today that Indiana has a website for 46 sandwiches. Duh, superbowl 46. Just put the two together. And I always know which number the superbowl is because it's my AGE.

Just look at some of those sammies.

NFLX is the "NFL eXperience".
It's a sponsored tailgate party, and booths from companies which want to pitch to Superbowl goers. There are memorabilia vendors, museum-like booths, a theater which shows NFL highlights, the Lombardi Trophy is usually in a shrine of sorts. Many networks (ESPN, whichever one has the SB) will be broadcasting their shows live from the NFLX for the week leading up.
I'm not a big sports guy either, but I am an AV geek, and SB and NFLX are very heavily into that.

Oh, one more thing, while watching C&As, wife got a call, job offer, AND accepted. So, that'll be a change!
(not too soon. I really, really expect to be fired in a month... but I also wasn't even sure I'd be ALIVE in 2012, either, so what do I KNOW!?)

It was 27˚C today which isn't too bad at all for Brisbane - except for the 98% humidity...
I was out in the rain and still hot as hell. Bleah...
