Tliet, do you know anything about
Glamsterdam magazine? I can't tell if it's high fashion vanity or some free nightlife rag. They're putting some of my work in the next issue - could you pick one up for me?

Johnny, i've never heard from it. As I'm in Rotterdam I should see if I'm able to pick one up as it's only distributed in Amsterdam. Did you see they have an online version?

It certainly looks... glamorous, legit. It's nice to have a physical copy, you know? Looks like it isn't published that often so it should be on stands for a while... don't go out of your way, but if you happen to be in Amsterdam, great. I'd owe you the cost/shipping/more Belgian beers. Thanks. (Porruka, get coverage in Rotterdam!)

Hell, Porruka, let's send virtual heroin to Amsterdam. I don't care to who, I just want to be able to do it.

I'll see what I can do, my wife's daughter lives in Amsterdam. But asking her to do something is, well... You know how 20 year olds are...

Well, P. You know you'll make a mint off one person if you ever expand to Brisbane (beer, not heroin)

LOL Tony, all I need is an international payment processor (that people will use) and a participating vendor...

Tony, sorry I missed your birthday--I was in Italy with my family celebrating my dad's 75th birthday (which was a day before yours). Hope you had a great day.
Oh, and 46.

Thanks Jeff. Happy birthday to your dad.
So it seems Spork is pretty much Generation X with a smattering of baby boomers.

I started work at a new
job today. It's a one month trial run to see if they want to hire me permanently as employee #12 so check back in a few weeks to see how I'm doing. It's a huge learning curve and there's a bunch of math (not my thing) but the people and projects are cool. I got to work this morning and they handed me a powerbook. Turns out it's an all Mac shop (and some linux servers and one lone windows box for testing). I don't know how new the powerbook is but it's an i7 with 4 cores. At the end of the day they said, "and you can take that powerbook home with you if you need, you know, to run the app."
I've had less auspicious first days on the job.

Looks like awesome stuff, Alan. Hope you take to each other over the next month!

Congrats, Alan! Looks like a cool product -- though looks like you'd need that computer at minimum to run it.
If you settle in and like it, I have a classmate who's really interested in working in data viz. (And some I School people do a lot of projects that involve it.)

Holy shit! My (now confirmed) best friend sent meus a 32GB WiFi iPad 2 as a wedding gift. Is it wrong to want to swap it for a 3G?
