In ye olde Spork, Madaracs mentioned that he was in Farimont, WV, for some unkown reason. As I spent 6th through 10th grades there (ages 11 - 15), I am VERY curious as to how he ended up in a town that is almost always overshadowed by Clarksburg to the south and Morgantown to the north. Wassup, dude? I hope you got to try a pepperoni roll!

I really wanted to finish that video, but it was so boring. Do you perhaps have a link to somebody who perhaps writes about the incident, preferably in a semi-coherent matter?

I guess that's our fate these days, the story of our continuing loss of freedom is considered boring.

I'm with Remy on this one. I don't like news presented as art. I prefer the old fashioned way of providing a summary of the story up front and then filling in factual details. I made it half way through and realized that they weren't interested in telling me what happened, they were only interested in marching me towards a forced sense of empathy. If you just tell me what happened, I can manage my own empathy. I don't need music and A&E-style photo montages.

What continuing loss of freedom?!

To label everything in a woeful manner does it injustice. Speaking so generally of life is not useful.

This seems to be an incident of misunderstanding, unfortunate as hell but does not represent a broad loss of freedom. The man just traveled, what, 1000 miles ... that's pretty nice.

I'm not trying to belittle this man's wrongful persecution but am saying I disagree that our collective situation is one of such loss.

But then, I am American, and all we do is 'export fear'...

OK OK, that was a sucker punch and I left my window wide open. It means nothing.

Exactly! It's not my fault some guy thought he had a story to tell, so he uses his amateur video skills to make a movie. This guy narrates his story over some footage and pictures in the background. He is trying to be an artiste. Just get your damn point across. The Salon article is a good read. Never would have gotten through it if it was made into a shitty video.

The clip is actually part of http://minimovies.org/, a site full of documentaries. This one may look amateurish, but it's most certainly not. Also, it's not news, it's actually the story of a real person behind this one page article. Articles that everybody seems to read once in a while and totally forget about the next minute.

Sheesh, are you guys so beat up by the regular media that you don't understand an art project trying to get a point across?

As a documentary, it's not bad.
