I just got home from the gym and I'm a bit confused.

I thought the guys there were supposed to be "macho" so I figured that they'd be into things like home improvement and whatnot but I guess I was wrong. I was hoping to get some advice on fixing a problem with the tile surround in my bathtub but nobody seemed willing or able to help. Every time I started to tell a guy about how I'm tired of having to scrub my caulk at least once a week to get rid of the stains and asked him if he had any suggestions he would get this uncomfortable look on his face and would quickly leave the sauna.

I don't understand why.

There's no reason to get that embarrassed just because you don't know the answer. I certainly wouldn't have thought any less of them, after all, I don't know the answer myself or I wouldn't have asked in the first place.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to look it up online.

Scrubbing one's caulk can be a lonely business.

A friend of mine hired a guy to fix his but he wasn't very good at it. While working on it, he squeezed the caulk too hard and ended up with white goo all over the place.

You need to watch the movie "The Change-up". Hilarious movie, and very raw and raunchy, which delves into macho vs caring/loving-blah-blah-blah. :)

Watched it last night and laughed about as hard as I can remember. My favorite (small, almost fleeting) part.... "Can you shut this off?" [37 minute mark]

Maybe the bathroom just isn't a manly enough project. I'm also trying to figure out the best way to prevent ice dams on my roof this winter and I heard that there is a chemical treatment you can use to keep ice from building up.

I'm going back to the gym tonight so I'll ask a few of the guys if they can recommend a treatment for my shingles.

I finally/just bought a nice(r) NAS enclosure. A Synology. Now I haven't been paying attention. But looking for disks to put in it... MAN hard drives have gone way up. I was buying disks cheaper than they are now year or two ago.

Synology: which model? Have taken to QNAP myself. (TS259 Pro+)

Bill, it's a temporary (hopefully) spike due to constrained supply. Thailand flooding has impacted manufacturing.

Bill, it's due to the flooding in Thailand. I just sold a couple of 2 year-old used 1.5TB drives on eBay for $80/each.

I got a DS211j for $169 from buy.com. I am not even opening the box since I can't get/afford HDs. LOL
