What a journey.
how about some sort of tweet-able game? Remember, chess used to be played over the long haul (time) by sending postal letters stating one's next move?

Come up with something simYOUlar. (wanted to make sure y'all pronounce it right)

Good stuff. ddt, I agree with you on the aggregation. That's the nice thing about Twitter; you can tweet for one reason, but anyone can read it for another. That would take some saturation.
And I like the ideas where you need 2+, staying away from computers altogether. But to get a real long battery life, these will have to be mostly uplink. If your WiFi is on waiting to receive all the time, it kills the batteries quick.

To be more clear, we're putting little devices on Kickstarter to give people who aren't electronics types the ability to connect things in the real world to the internet. They'll be more hobbyist at first, in that we're not locking it down to specific uses, just giving you the ability to plug in a variety of sensors and set rules. Even technical types who have used Arduino will appreciate that we're taking care of the most painful part - writing the whole network stack in a reliable way. And we hope people will find good uses that we haven't thought of. Our first sensors will be things like magnetic switches, accelerometers and thermostats, but if there's the demand, we'll get to OBD II for cars and HDMI CEC to control electronics (which also means it will be more two-way communication).

Not sure where to put this.
I would like an app or sumpin' that is like YouTube for WebCams, but a slideshow/screensaver for the (Apple)TV.
I STILL think WebCams are under-leveraged. I'd love to have a 'rotation' of favorite webcams on my big screen TV to see what the world is currently looking like.

I always like this one (Abbey Road) partly because it has good audio.

Hey, cool... I accidentally did Fn+Scroll and it zooms INSIDE the video!
I was trying to read the fence/wall post (2011 AHTOH) and THOUGHT I was CTL+Scroll to zoom WHOLE WINDOW.
I think AHTON means Anton. What do you think J-Will?

That is how you would spell Anton in a language with a Cyrillic alphabet, as you know, but I have no further insight.

Big fires in Reno today. Near my house. 50mph winds. 0% contained after eight hours. Looks like we're okay for the moment, but preparing evacuation necessities. They're estimating at least 24 more hours to go.

Good luck, JW! Hoping for the best. There's rain headed our way, so maybe some moisture will make it there.

We're expecting some moisture as a front comes through, but they've said it will be minimal. The fires kind of went in a 'U' around my area. The fires up in the hills to our west have mostly moved south, the fires headed north in a canyon to our east are unlikely to jump west with the current winds. So, major trouble about a half-mile east of me, major trouble about a mile south of me, but looking okay here. The talking heads on the news are trying to stay current, but we're getting eyewitness stuff taped at 3 AM mixed in with current rumors of outbreaks, and actual live footage of fires in "Reno."

Sorry about the fires, J-Will.

I don't know why I find myself looking at petfinder.com lately.
I feel that if I don't adopt this one, when I die I'll find out she was my reincarnated grandma and there'll be hell to pay. (LOL)

I think I'll start a new blog... "The Homeless Entrepreneur".

But while I'm still preparing and in research mode for that, I figure I'll give a brief update on Social Gifting. The first Seattle-area (Kingston) vendor is now live. For the FB folks who either are or know someone in the area:

Well, we've busted our asses and now it's up and we gotta keep working. This thing is going to rock. Spread the word and help us get gainfully self-employed. I'll think of something extra for Sporking backers.

Tell people about it! I'd think interaction designers would be interested.

Ron is my new, nay, has always been my, favourite Sporker.

And how! Ron, you'll always have a special place in my heart, but Tom is now designated most-favored Sporker.
