Every once in a while you run into a service or application where you think; anyone could make use of this. Share those here.

On Arstechnica I read about Mozyhome.com, an online backup provider. Their Mac client is now at 1.0, it's been in beta for quite some time apparently. Using the Windows client I was impressed, a small (64bit even!) service that makes the backups available in Windows Explorer. Not sure about the Mac client as I haven't tested it.

redtube.com ?

The problem with redtube is it's not very 'sticky' to users...since I find myself only staying for about 10 minutes at a shot!

LOL

That wasn't Tony. I have not his comprehensive knowledge of internet porn.

I read this article yesterday... http://www.nytimes.com/2006/04/20/technology/20basics.html?ei=5090&en=6fc17b9bf54ea2ef&ex=1303185600&adxnnl=1&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss&adxnnlx=1145537733-/Kdyvqpu0/eVBVNBYUcsqg and got to thinking... hey what if i tilted my monitor 90.

it's kind of amazing for web sites and word processing although its weird to tilt my eyes up and down on the page. but now i am thinking of getting a dvi-splliter and a second monitor for widescreen. seems like since the macbook can handle dual link dvi it should be able to handle this too with a matrox dualhead2go but we'll see.

anybody use one of those? my big concern with the matrox is that its vga which would mean major signal loss... right?

Baha:

I generally use an external monitor as my "main" screen and the laptop screen as my secondary. I often run a 24" external in 1050x1680 to deal with LOONG log files, too junky an inbox and websites. I rarely have had setups at work where they will give me two external screens AND a laptop, but when I did I got to play with running the MBP "lid closed". Then I have used the matrox thingy and I am pretty sure that there is (was) a problem with the matrox dual head adapter and the support for the graphics card. The info that is sent to the video card in my MBP was unable to get the dock to NOT span two monitors. Not a deal breaker, but kind of a PITA.

I wonder if say a friendly Apple dealer might have an evaluation unit and or experience with the current crop? Oh Phred...

I bet it wouldn't work with one tall one fat either. My sense is the way it works is it says you got a screen that's 1920 x 2 x 1200 pixels wide via VGA and then splits the signal, sending it out via DVI, the result being something a bit of a kludge.

The Dual Head 2 Go and Triple Head 2 Go make it seem as though your computer has one long video output, so rotating would rotate both.

There is a digital edition as well, so you can stay DVI.

Here's a wizard to tell you what resolutions you can expect under which OSs with what hardware:

Wish List.
I'm trying to contact my cousin, who had brain surgery, to see how he's doing. Phone keeps ringing busy. So, trying to call his kids. I don't have their current numbers or the ones I have are not being answered.

So, I'd like to see a (Apple) Address Book to Zabasearch tie-in. I found my cousin's (kids of above) birth month, and year, middle initial, some previous addresses and perhaps the current address.

But, I'd like Apple Address Book to populate it for me. Perhaps a MobileMe type service? And it sounds like something that SHERLOCK would have been ideal for.

Too bad Google's old directory assistance is so much subterfuge now. Hell, even zabasearch can't pull up medical records like it used to!!!! (j/k)
