It was interesting to read about some of the technology BMW is putting into new cars to get performance and economy.

Chrysler, who seem incapable of either, should take note.

PS Anyone wanna buy a 6 year old Voyager - heavily modified, approx 30,000Km, really crappy fuel economy.

No? Aw, c'mon...

What a journey.
I am currently driving a 16 year old one. (We call it Town & Country here, though)
162,000 miles. Just drove 11 hours up and back to Detroit's auto show.
I have 850 photos if anyone is interested! :)

Oops! Reminds me - I need to go out and get my pistol out of it!

Actually Tony, the Pentstar v6 is amongst the best mass produced gas engines in the planet in terms of power/economy.

Then why does my car go through 90 litres of petrol for a 500 Km trip and accelerate like my wheelchair?

you don't have a pentastar. those are newer.

Oh! I should read this forum more often…

I have a BMW 530xi, which satisfies 1/2 of the holy grail. AWD wagon, no turbo. Frankly, it doesn't need no goddamn turbo, it's a BMW. Alas, it's not a stick.

That said, I also now am the proud owner of a 2011 335xi four door for my business. It allows me to burn up some cash from the business in a pleasurable way and thus avoid AMT. It comes with all the performance options. Only the M3 and the 335si coupe are faster. The latter's only advantage is the seven second burst 370 lb. foot torque blasts, which are certainly considerable.

The machine is a monster. I'm babying it until 1,200 miles. After that, I'm going to let er rip. I can't wait. Oh, it's a stick. It's just plain wrong the car. Just plain wrong.

Just picked my Prius up from shop. As you might recall, my main/drive/traction/hybrid battery went bad. Long story short, Toyota agreed to foot the whole $2,700 bill. Yay! I am so glad to have my little buddy/Prius back. We'll see how tomorrow goes with it. I missed it while driving something that only got about 18 mpg. yuck. :(

Bill, a few months ago you pointed out the possibility for a second fuel opening on a W124?

Here's a guy who had an LPG installation fitted on his car and the installer used the second opening. Looks pretty neat.

Can't fucking kill those W124s.

Does that switch over to petroleum-based fuel if/when the CNG runs out?

tliet – February 24, 2012 02:11PM Reply Quote
It's LPG, liquefied petroleum gas and it's a manual switch.

Up for driving instead?

Leaving Thursday night for Florida/Amelia. Hopefully the old Prius will get me/us there and back. J-Coop should play hooky and crash in my back seat.

I know. One of the guys that's NOT going this year, but went last year, just got married to a fellow staffer at your place of employ and they are going about half as far down.

PM me or whatever if you are up for a long drive, some fun with cars we (at least I) can't afford, and long drive back. I've checked and Corvette Assembly in Bowling Green IS running Monday, and that means they are open for tours. Might stop there on the way back. It's always a fun, short look at yet more cars. Last year they plenty of test drives or rides were being given all the way up to the Veyron!

Here's my cheeky self in a Lambo LP560 (the CHEAP Lambo) last year.

Would be fun, but even though I'm on vacation, I have child-care responsibilities this weekend. Looking forward to a report--it looks like a fun event.

Sat next to Justin Bell and his wife for lunch, they were at small table next to my sofa.

On my sofa and adjacent chair was the Bugatti Americas chief and his wife. Talked at length with them and had a good discussion. This guy (John) as he can be seen with Jay Leno on Jay Leno's Garage video of the Veyron Super Sport http://tinyurl.com/6fk62ox

Sounds like a lot of fun.

Technically, the XJ 220 was the fastest Jaguar ever made though....

Their words, not mine. :)

I went to the Jag dealer when they had more than a few XJ-220s in town. It was roped off. "Please do not touch!"
And then they took and CRASHED THEM later that night at FastMasters. I could have JUMPED UP AND DOWN on them!
(Video http://tinyurl.com/7f8jgtk)
I took some cars around that track myself. (didn't crash, luckily)
