So, when do you expect to see the next 21-slot G5 subnotebook with built-in antigravity? Or do you have other things to complain about regarding the Mac rum0rz press?

Ooh! Scary! Scary! Don't we look mean? You can't see me! But I can see you!
I have an 80GB permanently installed in my intercom system--though I'm thinking when the next version of the Touch comes out I may replace it since it has wireless and Pandora.

My 160 switches places between my living room and garage most often these days (with that handy Philips dock driving it.)

And my Touch is the one that goes everywhere.

That would be cool. I am not a big status quo guy. I like change like this.

Might explain this.

In non-iPhone news, the notion of app rentals has come up. I can see where this could apply to several types of software with higher initial purchase prices and customer uncertainties about lockin.

As a general principle rental apps leave me cold - but it may be the only way I'd ever upgrade to photoshop CS5 given it costs more than a MacBook Air if I buy it legally in Australia.

Hmmm... US $699 for PS CS5 while in Australia it's A$1168 (inc GST) AND to buy it rom Adobe's site in Australia I have to go through a stupid Flash-based store...

Is Adobe deliberately trying to encourage Australian customers to pirate their software?

Maybe Apple could so something like gamefly -- that seems like a popular rental model (for games).

I'd rent iMovie 1 or 2 or 3 right now. I hate the last spread of releases.

Looks like the iPod Classic lives, at least for now. It wasn't in the slide of the iPod lineup that Cook showed this afternoon, but it's still in the store, and its page is still on Apple.com.

How can I jibe Jobs saying thinks he cracked TV and the book saying that Jobs just recently witnessed SIRI for the first time himself, to this report?
That would mean imo that Jobs had already been convinced of SIRI's tie-in to TV, and that seems unlikely to me.

He may have made the determination that voice control was the way to go before Apple purchased Siri.

Not so fast. I think Siri works well in the Iphone but it's weak when it comes to voice recognition in the car. All that ambient noise. You want to try that at home? Ugh.

Also, the minimalism of Apple's Remote is often cited (in fact by some of you) as evidence of the great mastery of Jobs. But not really… Why is it that people are snapping up Harmony Ones by Logitech instead of begging Apple to make TV remotes? Simply because simple can sometimes be great and sometimes it can be stupid.

Frankly, I am bowled over by how well the Harmony Link works on my iPad. It is simple but powerful. The software has a way to go (when I listen to CDs, why shouldn't I get a big-ass volume control knob for the amplifier? why can't it be tied to soundhound to give me my lyrics? think that's nuts? an LG TV can do that), the interface for choosing shows should be simpler and should be tied with some kind of reviews or etc. But it's just fantastic for $100. Really.

Maybe the SiriTV comes with a typical Apple one button remote... that has a microphone. No need to shout across the living room.

I'm starting to see a flurry of references to "the imminent death of the Mac Pro" which means to me that we're about to see a new form factor finally (maybe one more cheese grater rev then new) that likely eliminates most slots in favor of Thunderbolt.

Just got an extensive, "How do you like your MacBook Air?" survey from Apple. Lots of questions relating to what features I use, and it seemed like they were looking to see which features they could eliminate to make it smaller/cheaper down the road. Perhaps it was me, but there seemed to be an unusual focus on, "Do you really, honestly and for truly, use those USB ports?" (Yes, dammit!) Also wanted to know if I used a case, and what I liked or hated about it, how often I connected to 3G and how. Even asked me what feature I'd like to add (my mind went blank, as I really love the machine as it is, so I said make a black one).

What do you use the USB ports for? The only reason I need them on my MBP is for the 3-in-1 cable on my cinema display, but the newer displays eliminate the USB cable and do it all with Thunderbolt instead.

Sneakernet. Thumbdrives are failsafe ways to give someone next to you files. Main reason I use USB on my MBP.

I use a wired mouse. I play a lot of games on it, and Bluetooth mice are generally laggy. Razer's got some that aren't, but they are designed to charge by a desktop machine and don't pack small to travel in my laptop case. Wired mice are cheap, fast, and you can get some pretty tiny ones to pack away for travel.

I used to have a BT 500 wireless mouse that was fantastic, but once it wore out I couldn't find any others that worked as well. Even other BT 500's. I think I have three bluetooth mice in the trunk of my car that I intended to return and never got around to. I'm several years past the "Return By" dates now.
