So, when do you expect to see the next 21-slot G5 subnotebook with built-in antigravity? Or do you have other things to complain about regarding the Mac rum0rz press?

Uhhhh.... Riiiiight...

Granted, I had a lot of doubts on the phone, and I had a few doubts about the iPad, at least until I saw it, but yeah, I just don't see it.

Just ask yourself. Not "would apple be able to reinvent the digital camera, or 'photography'", but ask yourself, "why wouldn't apple do it THROUGH the phone?

Isn't every trend in the world more and more heading towards using your phone as the camera? Isn't the trend "I don't want to carry two, three, four devices"?

Morg "I don't put it past Apple to contemplate doing it, but I have a REAL hard time seeing Apple pulling the trigger." anti

I don't think it likely, but I do think that it's possible. If there's any area that could be simplified "for the rest of us," photography is it. I doubt I'd buy one, though.

On a completely different tangent: Rumors are that Apple will announce its TV OS at WWDC in a week. Not hardware availability, just the OS for developers.

good luck with that one… not so sure apple will pull it off. point and shoot is being eviscerated by iPhones.

Exactly. I don't see Apple chasing a declining market, even if they could do some good in it.

Point and shoot *is* being eviscerated by iPhones. Prosumer DSLR+HDvideo are not.

There are a couple of ways of looking at the idea of Apple reinventing photography.

1) there are new products on the horizon (always possible)
2) Apple has *already* done it and the aforementioned evisceration is actually evidence of it

I am by no means betting on Apple doing this, but "declining market" is not a reason to stay out. Apple reinvents markets. If they were to do it, look for the things that neither smartphones nor existing pro cameras can do.

Heya JK,

I just dropped a private message (that has nothing to do with anything here) your direction. If you find yourself with a few minutes...

Thanks!

Nightly builds are still available. But, yeah, I think they've unplugged life support and now we're just waiting for respiration to cease.

Ping? WTF? I thought you were saying Bing (which I still don't need)!

Yup, there it is. Ping is so far off my radar that I misread it as 'Bing' rather than recognize it as an actual entity unto itself.

I use Bing just to piss off Google, not because it's better.

I had to think about it for a moment before I realized what he was referring to as well.

I use it to get Bing Rewards points. I've cashed it in a few times already for a total of $15 in Amazon gift cards.

What a journey.
I vary it up. I actually like Bing better for some things. But I constantly run TRACK ME NOT firefox plug in to search various sites all day long --> proverbial haystack.

What's everyone hoping (that term's been ruined forever now...) for today from Apple?

Jeff Cooper – September 12, 2012 02:32AM Reply Quote
I'm not expecting much if anything in the way of surprises. The new iPhone has been leaked pretty extensively. New iPods? Other than the Touch, the iPod's day is largely past, so I don't see anything to get excited about here. Possible wildcard is a 13" retina MacBook Pro, which is definitely coming, just a matter of when.

I expect to have two iOS device purchases in the next few months--a phone for my son (not the new one, but I'm looking forward to price drops on the 4S) and an iPad Junior for my daughter (who will require appeasement when her older brother gets a phone). Yes, my kids are spoiled.
