Polished up my grammar a bit...
Since there was no real thread for useless but nonetheless
interesting links I thought I'd create one.

That's a lot of carp. Shame they're not particularly tasty...

DPBD!
Anyone over 350 pounds eats for free?
The dipping the of the buns in oil/fat before building the "bypass burger' was, for me, an especially gross touch -- and the hospital theme, complete with gowns and a complimentary wheelchair ride back to your car if you finish your meal, is just bizarre.
They even have a slogan inside the restaurant saying "taste worth dying for!"
Salad dodgers, form an orderly cue!

I would love it, but those days are past. It would kill me now. Might be worth it. Beats the hell out of hemlock.

Okay, here's a question for Mr. JW (sparked by reading parts of Alan Moore's "The Black Dossier"): what do you think would be the reasons anyone would want to join the cult of the Old Ones, and be brainsucked and all that? I mean, with most major religions on earth there's some promise of comity and a lovely heaven. What's the lure? There always seem to be one or two maniacs trying to wake Cthulu and all that -- what's their angle?

Homo Sapiens Sedentarius
Power in this world, rather than the next. Have you noticed that many of those most deeply steeped in forbidden lore often have powers or spells that make them incredibly powerful, at least compared to the common run of men? Now, most of us would assume that opening the Gate for Yog-Sothoth would merely make us his welcome-to-earth snack, but there are some who feel that they would be able to negotiate a position as high priest, acolyte, or at least favored minion. They may be wrong, but they think it's worth the shot. I could easily see egotistical, extremely intelligent masters of lore aspiring to this. Especially since their efforts to summon/create/mate with the Old Ones might take most of their lives. Any nasty bits at the end might be deemed worthwhile, in view of the years of decadent luxury and power that precede them.
Then, of course, there are the lesser intellects who are impressed by the power and misleading statements of their brighter leaders. For them, it's a cult, and they may not grasp their role in immanentizing the eschaton.
