Polished up my grammar a bit...

Since there was no real thread for useless but nonetheless
interesting links I thought I'd create one.

What a journey.
Was John Hodgman the worst TED talk ever?

(well, perhaps on an "Expectation-to-Actuality" approach)

Just heard this on frommer's travel podcast

Social-ish site of dog sitters. You want to BE one? You NEED one?

(custom quote options they just said, too)

Was the Surface's announcement similar to the iPad's? Maybe a bit...

I liked the Surface better when it was a big-ass table.

They nearly had a "Win98 scanner" moment in their demo too...

I mean, the Nazi's could NEVER have fallen for so long off that unfinished bridge... come ON!
I bet they won't reclassify The Meaning of Life, and others.

I'd never thought of it from that perspective. Carrie Fisher is fantastic in that movie...

DPBD:

So, this is what I did this weekend. We walked through a lot of use cases, once we realized that the initial idea of replacing the Google-eaten-and-disappeared Needlebase was a wee bit ambitious for a weekend hackathon, and used a Hackasaurus tool to start on how to automate scraping for some open data sites. Check out the "Develop for Haystax" page for the GitHub link and see if you want to contribute code!

This could be a great tool for journalists and, well, anyone who wants to explore open data but is frustrated by online data interfaces that require you to enter a query, see 20 results, click on the "Next" button, oh, another 417 times... .

I cannot even begin to understand why somebody would create something like this. Or link to it.
