I must have missed something. What does Norwegian have to do with anything?

You're going to look pretty foolish in Niflheim trying to get by with English.

Niflheim?

I think Jeffe will be packing heat to Valhalla.

Only if he finds a battle to die heroically in. Perhaps the culmination of his epic bout with DDT.

I'd be disappointed if that didn't happen...

Late to the party but sorry to hear, Mr. Harlow. Hope there's more in the hopper.

As for that epic battle, you could do worse than Gjallerbru: http://comicsalliance.com/ask-chris-196-he-stood-alone-at-gjallerbru/

TPBD: Received this from LookSee Wellington:

"Great news! Our evaluation team has reviewed your profile and it’s been approved.

Next step is to login to the LookSee Wellington candidate portal and record a short personal video.

When logging in to the candidate portal, you will see instructions and guidelines of how to complete your video. Your video will be submitted to our evaluation team for final approval and we will notify you if it has been approved or not.

If your profile and video are approved, your complete profile will be published and searchable by LookSee Wellington employers, who can then nominate candidates with the skills and attributes they’re looking for.

Good luck!

The LookSee Wellington Team"

Though I still didn't see any of their narrow job categories that really applied to me.

Jeffe, are you still thinking about this?

Wow! DDT that is great, my wife and I both applied too but nothing back so far.

Other Dan -- I just got it (and it went into my Spam folder), so it's probably just the start of the week they're sending out emails. And this is just the first cut, I guess? You'll probably get one soon -- and it may help that I don't have family or pets. And then a company has to want you enough from the pool to fly you out? tbh, I haven't been paying attention/getting hopes up; as I said, none of the job areas they list are anything like my area.

My wife uses SilverStripe a lot so we are hoping that will spark their interest, but realize we are not ideal candidates with dogs, etc.

What a journey.
ddt, cool.
Their web site is messed up. I provided all the necessary stuff, but front page shows still red Xs, but when you look at my profile, it's all there.
Make me wonder about their "TECH".

Yeah, I had similar weirdness, and they had issues with logins, too! But I've seen similar issues with Google and Facebook, so there you go.

Got my new official title today. I've been dropped from Principal to Sr. Business Specialist.

Fuck.
That.

Unfortunately, Easter is a major holiday in Norway. Everybody is on vacation so I'm not likely to hear anything back from my applications for a couple of weeks.

At least you'll have time to plot a memorable departure from your current job.

My immediate boss is awesome. Truly the best boss I've ever had... which is saying something since I've had some really great ones in the past.

Now, I just got home last night from a week in London. The trip was great but when our plane touched down in Minneapolis, I turned on my phone to find a message from a colleague. He started by apologizing for not telling me sooner... he agonized over whether it would be better to tell me right away and risk spoiling my vacation. He decided to wait.

My boss's husband had a heart attack and died on Tuesday.

This really sucks. She's not just a great boss, she's a great person and, needless to say, this is devastating. She's 50. He was 51. They've only been married a few years. I'm trying to figure out what I can do to help. She's said that she will need people to get her out of the house so my colleague and I are going to try and bring her to lunch later this week.

That's terrible, CS. I hope that you and your co-workers can provide some consolation for her.

ddt – April 17, 2017 08:28AM Reply Quote
That's awful. Sorry to hear.

Just from experience, what sometimes helps is a) not making it about you (don't open with "I'm sorry", but "what can I do to help?" and b) helping. Screw professional boundaries. If she can't gas her car, do it. And so on. Listen.

That's excellent advice. I was also thinking about making food. Cooking or even ordering stuff might feel like a chore right now.

My first message was telling her that if there was ANYTHING I could do, to let me know. She said that she needs people to force her out.
