And yeah, Simon, I think we are, but that isn't enough in some situations. ;-)

What a journey.
Any good over the counter sleep aids? I'm losing about 1/2 pound a day.

I find beer helps with both the sleeping and the weight loss. Working nights now, i am getting about 4-6 hours of sleep a day if i am lucky.

bill, i know alcohol is out of the question with you, and probably a good thing. though it'll knock some people out, it doesn't help deep sleep.

i've not had a full/good night's sleep for about eight months, so i've been getting a lot of advice on sleep aids. there's "sleep MD", which you can get in grocery stores/drug stores. all natural stuff, not habit-forming. may or may not work with you, but cheap (i know that's an attraction for you). also, real doctors have told me to use benadryl. also not habit-forming. make sure to take any of these at least a 1/2 hr before going to bed.

also, reduce stimuli before bedtime, try earplugs (as long as the wife promises to shove you awake at the alarm), other soothing things. i know it's tough when you're stressed and worried. work hard on relaxing!

Hideously Unnatural
For some, Benadryl will cause hyperactivity rather than grogginess. Fun fact: Benadryl and Tylenol PM contain the same sleep aid.

Marijuana will cure both issues. Whenever you're not sleeping, you'll be eating.

Agreed -- alcohol does great damage to deep sleep which is regenerative sleep.
Pot does different things to diff ppl, for some it accelerates heart rate.

Sex is a good relaxer...

Get some serious aerobic exercise (at minimum 1/2 hour of very increased heart rate) to clear the toxins, the mind, and get the good chemistry flowing. It does wonders.

Is it the pot that does it or the 4 bags of Doritos followed by a quart of pork-fried-rice and seven cheeseburgers... or maybe a mini-seizure caused by staring at iTunes visualizers for too long?

Seriously, though, rino's exercise recommendation is a good one... just be sure that you exercise either in the morning or the early afternoon or you may find yourself having an even harder time falling asleep.

I have to give a shoutout to Pzizz. I was having some issues getting to sleep at night (tossing and turning for a couple hours is one thing. Doing it with a significant other next to you trying to sleep as well is um... worse).

That guy talkin, with all the soft sounds and rhythms and stuff... It really gets me relaxed and puts me to sleep.

Morg "if nothing else its natural, and I think you can "try before you buy" as well." anti

Listen to any audiobook read by George Takei.

You will be asleep before the end of the first sentence.

Seriously, I fall asleep to audio books nearly every night. I find I concentrate on that instead of what ever stresses I have and then I drift off. I have a cube playing the audio books and the next cuts are rain and waves. Works like a charm.
