Have you ever become so frustrated with your HR department that you sat down and wrote a lengthy letter bitching them out for their utter incompetence?

Have you ever done it in such a carefully crafted fashion that it resulted in a phone call in which they apologized profusely and thanked you over and over again for your brilliantly-worded email?

Let's just say it feels good.

Grats, CS. Must feel great.

It'll feel even better if they follow through with what they've said they will do.

What a journey.
I had many unpleasant, silly things while on my medical leave. But they were understanding at least.
Had my annual review yesterday. Didn't get fired. I thought my LAN connection going down 15 minutes prior to the review was a bad omen. :)

I had a cow-orker whose network passwords were revoked a half hour before he was told he was laid off. Really classy.

I'd love that kind of advanced warning. Gives you plenty of time to go to the bosses office, open his desk drawer and take a dump in it. Bonus points if you do it while said boss is in the room...

I'm about to have my chat with the guy in Pleasanton. We'll see how that goes.

I'm more nervous about this than any of the other roles because, well, I don't want to relocate but I'm afraid they'll tempt me.

Well, crap.

They really want me... and they want me to move to Pleasanton.

Crap, crap, crap. This is not an easy decision.

It's Minnesota in briefs.

Pleasonton is not a bad are. fooking hot during the summer, but nothing you are not used to in Minnesota, but it is not as cool as SF or Oakland. Pretty easy to get on BART and get to Oakland or SF. And really close to the Alameda county fair!

Just talked to the recruiter for the position in CA. She said that the company doesn't typically pay for relocation.

I told her that was a deal-breaker.

Apparently she was bluffing because that didn't end the phone call as I would have expected it to.

Eh. I'm not trying to stick it to them or anything, I just want it to be fair. I have a unique set of skills and experience that they need there. I would prefer not having to move so they need to find a way for me to justify relocation.

what job or job responsibilities cannot be done remotely from a French Riviera beachfront nowadays?

They've confirmed that they will not pay for any relocation so California is off the table.

While it's quite a bit of money, they spent more than that to send me to India for 6 months. So, yeah, it's weird.
