BTW, Mokers? Bruce means Fremont, not Fremont.

Ahhh, I'm an idiot. When he said he was a few blocks away I was confused. Still I have a need for an FM consult

The first I knew anything about that was when it showed up in a PvP strip a few weeks ago after they moved to Seattle.

Mokers: email sent. Just to clarify - this is Fremont; as in the Fremont district of Seattle, center of the universe and home of Lenin; not Fremont CA or elsewhere. FYI I live in Redmond WA, within crawling distance of MS world headquarters.

More to Mokers: email just bounced. Sent to mokers etc per what I thought were your instructions.

I sent a PM Bruce. Dan Harlow is on the case

Bruce Robertson – March 23, 2011 03:42AM Reply Quote
PM? Not clear what you are saying. Ah, I see PM indicator is only available at the very bottom of the forum home page. I never go there. Dan should certainly be able to handle it though.

I'm in search mode again now myself.

Do any of you find indeed.com or similar helpful for employment?

porruka (Admin) – March 23, 2011 06:13PM Reply Quote
I've submitted through several indeed listings; nada as a result.

I don't dislike indeed.com it's just that there are several specialized websites that I go to first. Indeed seems to have many of the same postings though.

The current job search site state of affairs is basically one big porn orgy. Cross posts, cross links, and deceptive redirects.

And every single company has their stuff managed and even hosted by Taleo.

I'd just love to know why these Byzantine online application systems seem incapable of sending out rejection emails. I mean, it's not as if it will take the computer more than a tenth of a second per applicant, and it can happen automatically when the position is closed. Even without the online system, sending out the rejections only takes a list of email addresses, a template email, and a PERL script. And you can reuse the last two for each new job.

YDD,

Don't get me going on topics like this... I've ranted about items such as this before on my own site (like this one: http://www.sentientfood.com/2010/05/musings-on-employment-1/ )

It's f'n ridiculous.

1. I bet nowadays rejection letters can lead to lawsuits, better just not to do it.
2. What ARE some of the sites you job-seekers approve of?
