What a journey.
Ok, what is each of our seniority at our jobs. Ron, what was your number of years with school?
I am at 17 years, will be 18 years in September with current employer (counting buy-out/take-over)
Both a blessing and a curse in ways.

5 years now. Bought a house in May. I'm sure the boss will freak on me again (hasn't done so in 2 years).

Tuesday was my 5 year anniversary as an employee. I've actually been working with this client for 8 of the last 13 years, though (I took that 5 year hiatus when I moved to Florida).

Almost 7 years seniority; it would be almost 10, but I left to try a more... ummm... challenging job for a couple of years in the middle.

LOL JW.
I've been unemployed longer now than I've had some of my jobs. Let's hope this doesn't ever encroach on a record...

Hideously Unnatural
I've been an owner of my company for 14 years.
The last 8 of them I'd consider my work on it "full time".
Prior to that, 3 years with a company, and prior to that, 7 years with the same company. (There was overlap between when my company was incorporated and when I left the "day jobs")

About 11 years doing Filemaker indepently full time. 15 years at Boeing before that.

26 years Bill! But a strange kind of progression - went originally to set up Computer Services unit and at that stage was part of senior management team, but when our crazy Director decided he wanted Psychology as a discipline and I was was one of the small number about the place, I got drafted as a Professor (in your terms). Then as I moved out of line management I became a member of the University Senate and later the University Board. I'm now an Honorary (i.e. unpaid) Fellow.

14 (gulp) years. But working out of them as a contractor in different companies, 5 in the last 10 years. I'm working 4 years for the current client, which is the longest I've stayed with a client.

4 years is my longest (and only) full-time paid job.
Waaay too many part-time voluntary jobs though...

I've been self-employed for 8 years now. I had a boss and a "salary" in grad school for two years, but that hardly counts when he doesn't make you do anything, right? Though it was basically double-full-time.

My company has a couple of entry level positions available in the Bay area if you know people looking. This is mostly help desk level stuff, one PC, one more Mac OS oriented.

That might be me in a few months. Of course, I don't think I could live in the Bay area on an entry level salary.

I was just over 7.5 years when I finished my recent job. prior to that I had a string of jobs that never lasted longer than 11months due to the dot com bust.

Well, this is more of an anti-boss-bitch, particularly since my former (ultimately) boss is one of my references, but I had an in-person interview in LV today. I think it went well. It's the first interview I've had in 16 months where the prospective employer had to expend any actual money to talk to me.

Good news! I hope that you get an offer. Would this mean moving to Vegas?
