Nah. Since I was able to secure a new role before my actual termination, I won't have to go through orientation again.

Just had my first meeting with the new boss.

Ask him if he'll hire me. I have no relevant skills, will require a large relocation bonus, and I need a massive salary with superb benefits.
(Hey, it doesn't hurt (me) to ask.)

Actually, the benefits here are freaking amazing.
Even new hires get 11 holidays and 25 vacation days each year.

Wow. After I accepted the one role, I emailed the other person to tell thank them for their consideration and let them know that I had already accepted this other position.
He just replied to me with:

What a journey.
Two offers. Tragedy averted. Sounds like you're ready to write the next chapter.

Yeah, I'm taking the next couple of days off so I will have a nice 5 day weekend to decompress and put this stressful ordeal behind me.

Despite a personal appeal to my director (or, perhaps, because of it...) I'm among the group to be transferred to the feared department. More details next week, but no good can come of this.
I feel like a Czech resident in the Sudetenland in 1938.

Sorry to hear that John. What is the 'feared' dept and what's so fearful about it?

It's a Hunter S Thompson reference - the alternative was the "loathed" department

Another re-org at work. 15-20% of the people in my group are going to be transferred to another group. The one that we've always considered a sweatshop. Or gulag. No idea who's going to get transferred yet. It may be weeks before we know.

My old boss gave me the, "Sorry it had to be this way" talk. After learning that I was spending the weekend at home with my family, he said to enjoy it and implied that there wouldn't be many weekends at home going forward. Great.

More of a facepalm than a bitch, but at first my boss said that if i signed a confidentiality agreement he would let me finish after three weeks, but still pay out my four weeks notice. This was supposed to be a carrot, and it's kinda tempting, but not enough to make me sign.
He has been dragging his feet getting the agreement finalised, partly because we keep asking him to take stuff out or change it. Today I heard that he told my mate here that if i didn't sign it he would ask me to leave immediately, but he would still pay out my four weeks notice. The stick being that I don't get a farewell. I could care less about the farewell because it usually involves him buy a few beers and a couple of packs of chips and everyone awkwardly hanging out in boardroom after work. And if someone has been with the company for more than a couple of years they get a gift like an ipod or something. We're just going to the pub for lunch anyway.
So, if I sign, tomorrow is my last day. If I don't sign it tomorrow is my last day. So why the uncertainty? Well, my boss went on holiday to Queensland last Thursday and is not due back till Monday and I haven't been given anything to sign. So now I'm wondering whether I should bother turning up on Monday.
Oh, and usually he announces to the rest of the company when someone has resigned a couple of weeks before they finish. He's yet to do that. Normally I would be concerned that people may get the wrong idea, and living in a small town like Perth you need to be careful about your reputation. But I'm moving to Sydney so I'm not too concerned about that either.
