It's disturbing the amount of research that's been put into that...

That page, and the website that supports it, freakzilla.com started as a bunch of inside jokes about the sit com News Radio, especially the episode where a character committed suicide via office copier. THe references are long forgotten by most, but the page abides.

One of my clients ships to Japan. Suspect they are going to be in trouble as shipping to Japan is drying up.

What a journey.
I was given some changes to roles.
Boss's boss said to learn new stuff (from my Boss)
Six weeks of scheduling meetings with boss, only for them to be pushed to next/succeeding day.
Boss's boss tells me today to do more to learn new stuff.

Chances are pretty good that I'm going to be on the receiving end of layoffs next week.
I'm nearing panic mode right now.

Sorry to hear that, CS.
Crawling into a whiskey bottle is the recommended way to cope with situations like that.

Well, it's almost 100% certain that my position is being eliminated. The only hope is for me to find something else before the few weeks of severance pay runs out. Our HR process is best measured on a geological scale, though.

Thanks. My stint in India gave me a certain level of visibility that I'm now trying to capitalize on. I've started emailing people in upper management who I was able to build a rapport with and have been receiving positive responses already. So my outlook has been upgraded to cautiously optimistic.

My optimism is fading rapidly. The changes are being announced tomorrow morning and I'm still not any closer to finding a new role.

Best of luck, CS. These things are never fun, even if the cloaked man with the scythe passes you by.

Summary of today's meeting:
"Good night, Westley. Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning."
Or, as they put it, "Changes are on the horizon. We don't have all of the details regarding what, exactly, those changes will be. We do know that it is going to happen soon and that some of you will be impacted."
The term "laid off" is forbidden here. Management is not allowed to use it. They are required to use the term "impacted" instead. Seriously. It's as if someone said, "Hey, I know how we can make people feel better when they lose their jobs. We will just say they were 'impacted' instead of saying they were 'laid off' and everyone will be happy."

Yeah. Here we get to see who wins the lucky ISP. (Involuntary Severance Package.) If we say that somebody was laid off or fired, we get hushed. Lately things have been quiet here in terms of ISP's, which is a mercy.
I think that it's more to soothe the survivors than the victims, since the victims know darn well what happened. I do appreciate the Princess Bride reference, CS. I hope that you being impacted is inconceivable.

What a journey.
We had VIRPP at one place. Voluntary Incentive Resignation Pay Plan. I took it and have not looked back.
If I did not have a family, I would probably have told innumerable bosses to F-O by now. I did in half the jobs I had. Empowering.
