Still seems like riskier security, just to allow a bezel-free phone.

They compared statistics for a random person's fingerprints to a random person's face. What about somebody TRYING to look as much like you as they could? I'll bet the odds are different, then.

And that's the first time a "last name" has been used today in an introduction.

Oh, so when face recognition doesn't work, you go to your backup phone! Think Different!

The object/face recognition is very cool. Face ID, not sure yet.

Okay, yay for face-mapping AR, I guess. Seems like it will get old, fast.

I would like to see Trump deliver his addresses as a talking poop animoji, though.

Point of order: calling antifa "terrorist" is not only inaccurate, but not relevant.

I don't think eliminating buttons and moving everything to the complicated systems of non-obvious swipes as they have is good UI. I already have dozens of swipes on phone and Mac that I don't use because I can't freaking remember them when I need them. Unlike buttons, which can obviously be pressed, or menu selections that can be highlighted and show command key equivalents, the systems of swipes is not obvious or easy to reference while using an app.

They say the phone will recognize you in the dark... is that Face ID? That is marginally better, if so.

Yes, the IR components not requiring visible light.

Yeah, I'm just going to get an 8. And an Apple TV 4K. Passing on the watch and the iPhone X. Did they mention anything about a cell plan for the new Apple Watch, or do you just add it to your plan as another device?

Same number as the phone, so SIM cloning or some such.

Only thing he said was to promise that every carrier would have a "special" for launch. Sounds to me like that means it's getting billed as an extra device, which is shitty.

Was wondering about that, too. And agree on the value of a button rather than a hidden affordance.
