The no online purchase is fucking bollocks. I won't be buying one the first day. I may not get one at after seeing that 3G data is going to cost another $10 a month. The only thing I really need is Exchange, and I am getting that for free.
May have to get ranty about this soon...

That, and because I wouldn't be able to use T-Mobile if I want 3G means I'd be paying another $20/month more (in reality $70 since I'm paying $10 for my share of a family plan) than if I got an iPhone Classic.

Yeah, AT&T's bumping data rates to $30/mo ($45 if business data plan). I also added $10 for the avg plan cost difference between AT&T and T-Mobile.

Yes -- no online sales == bullshit tactics & maybe fewer sales.
Although I suppose ATT will see an increase in sales since all of us in ME will have to go there (unless the purported AAPL store opens here soon).

OK I'm watching keynote. All those enterprise beta program ppl talking about 2000 people in my firm using iPhone 2.0, yada yada... maybe that's why they stopped selling to the public?

I'm disappointed in a few things.
It's got little new. How about some more controls? Cut and paste? A nicer look? (I hate the metal bezel).
But my wife wanted an iPhone and I was going to give her mine. It needs a new battery. For that price I'm going to get her a brand new one and make mine a toy to use around the house.

It makes sense; the phone is subsidized. AT&T is not going to lose $200 (or whatever) for every phone that somebody wants to use on another service. If you have to cancel your plan, they'll recoup their subsidy in the cancellation fee.

Cheesey, but true. All the mass fools will happily fork over the extra money MONTHLY numb to the fact the OLD model was better for everyone but AT&T.
The WiMAX iPhone won't be offered until 2010. Geezus. Looks like Science Fiction whenever I type that... Anybody else read the 'sequel' to 2001? Hated the way they made the HAL replacement all ethical.

Unlocked iPhones will be a hot commodity -- the hatred of At&t is widespread. Chatter is growing about the raw deal one gets with the new plans. If the CANCEL cancel all old plans, including Family Plans, rollover minutes and the like I think there will be actual beat downs as people are presented with the new contracts...
