"What do you mean $500 for a black-and-white 5-inch portable TV set? My brother-in-law can get it for you wholesale!"

ddt,

I mentioned the possible macbook deal but bad timing. If you have other outlets for it, go for it.

S'okay. It'll be easier to stick in a cabinet indefinitely than the Power Mac G5 I still have. Oy, of all the ways I could be like JohnnyK!

Actually: anyone know of anyone (clean, reliable) who'd want to sublet my place in Berkeley for the summer? 1BR, big enough for two people... though it's about $1300/mo.

starting when ddt?

El Jeffe:

My dad cries whenever I tell him how much I pay for rent. He purchased a house with a 15-year mortgage on what a lot of people call a car payment.

Indiana real estate is rather different from the coasts. When I moved out here, my monthly mortgage payment for a 2450 sq foot house in a good neighborhood was roughly half what I'd paid in rent for a small 2 br apartment in DC three years earlier. And Indiana never experienced the boom/bubble of the last decade (although values did fall in the ensuing crash).

Remy,

I'm a bit flexible, but starting about 1 Jun. Possibly a bit before. There's grown-up furniture and everything! Comics and a PS3, too. Man, I better take photos of everything before I leave.

I'll put out some feelers. I'll be house sitting for my friend on shafter for a few weeks, so if you are done with school and not bouncing right away, we can grab some dinner and chat up some co-eds.

Ha! Sounds good. Yes, I'm not leaving on a jet plane just yet. Though you could always use the "I'm jus' passin' through, miss" line.

I'm cleaning house, or rather apartment. That means that I'm tossing stuff unless some of you guys want it. Stuff like old college textbooks or more appropriately, old Mac games. I know from watching you that several of you collect old stuff. In a few years, this'll all be old stuff so you ought to grab it now. I mean, what else are you going to do on your vintage 68040 with 5 MB of RAM?

If you want this stuff, send me email. Otherwise it goes in the trash in a few days. Cost is the price of shipping and maybe not even that. Don't waste time posting here, I'm chronically behind on my spork posts.

Marathon 2
Marathon Infinity
Star Wars Rebel Assault
Carmageddon (a classic, I had to stop playing after it made my driving too aggressive)
Duke Nukem 3D
Unreal
Tomb Raider II
Galapagos (another classic that apparently only I liked)
Myst
Descent II
Star Wars Dark Forces
KPT Bryce.

Any takers?

I don't have an e-mail address for you; Spork shows it as "hidden." If you do check back here, I'll take Dark Forces off your hands and pay the postage.

I loved carmageddon. I'll take that

Hmmm....look at that, I can't see my email address either. Nor can I see yours. Regardless, my email is first.last@gmail.com

Drop me a note with your mailing addresses and I'll get them sent out sooner or later.

I'd take Rebel Assault but shipping is probably cost prohibitive...

And you'll never know if it's cost prohibitive unless you send me your address...

Tony and Remy,

I need your mailing addresses. I only want to make one trip to the PO so until I get yours JW isn't getting his. Don't make me sic him on you....

Who will be getting one of these? Deal is running out.

Hey Alan,

Sorry I didn't reply sooner.

Don't worry about the Rebel Assault CD - I've got way too many needless distractions and I think it'd be a mission to get rebel assault to run on the iMac.
