If you WANT a Mac OS X featherweight, then YES NO (see EDIT)! I love mine. No sleep, no auto-switching of audio output, no card reader support, keys are small (but not impossible to touch-type on). Some windows (Photo Booth) are larger than the screen. You'll need to swap in a new wireless card to use Airport. Make sure that you're getting one with a hard disk. The ones with the 8 GB solid state drives are not great for OS X.

I just looked at it; it's got the 8GB SSD and the three cell battery (maybe 2 hours of life). I wouldn't get one of those. There are hard disk models that come with a 6-cell battery that are far superior, and list for $400. They're hard to find now, and unscrupulous folk are marking them up, but when the supply steadies I would expect the prices to be fairer. You should also add memory to it; it involves virtually taking the machine apart, but there are excellent instructions for it.

I should add that the only other netbook I've had is the first eeePC, and I never got OS X working well on that one. So I may not be objective about the wonderfulness of the Aspire One.

Baha, if you're asking how I can stay up late, I've always been a night owl.

I despise mornings, but I wake whenever I need to. When I'm on show, the call times are usually early mornings, and the cuts are sometimes very late. Not to mention the whole time zone thing for many of our events.

I really have tried not to get into any specific routine, except for sleeping in when I can.

Last night, I went to sleep at 3:30am, and woke up at 10:30am, so I'm getting almost the prescribed 8 hours.

I think he meant my comment of "no sleep" with respect to OS X on the Aspire One. I always shut my Macs down when I am done with them. The marginal increase in wear and tear and the reboot time means little to me next to the instability I always seem to experience after sleeping and waking my Macs.

Oh, gotcha.

What distribution of OSX86 are you running? Kalyway? The new Boot-132 from retail disks?

I have a $40 reward certificate for Circuit City (from my credit card). I went to use it today and their systems were down which prevented them from accepting it (or any gift cards either, they said). The Circuit City website is also down right now. I just got the certificate on Friday and was going to try to use it right away in case the bankruptcy thing made them worthless (like the Sharper Image cards ended up when they went tits-up). I hope I'm not already too late.
