"Digital hubs." iPod and its successors. (iPhone?) Convergence. How ridiculous will DRM get? Yep, put it all together and it just might make for a successful thread.

I sure as hell am going to try to discourage mine from big name colleges. Mine was barely mid-tier, but charged as though it was Ivy League. I'd have done as well at a lower tier college. Not community college, mind you, just not one that is prominent on a national level. I'd rather my kids start adult life relatively debt-free, than with Ivy League prestige and Ivy League debt.

What a journey.
first is control costs. get back to basics. what is needed? redefine a degree. More towards marketable skills. Why have brick and mortar? Why have fixed-resident staff? Why have tenure? Why have dorms? etc...
then, when it does not cost as ridiculously much, likely won't need to go into crappy debt.

All that crappy debt is currently being owed to people. People who will fight tooth-and-nail to prevent the current system from changing.

I have a sudden craving to see 'Stop Making Sense' movie again. Sober this time. Can't find it on iTunes. I don't have a cable (or even a TV). I'll torrent it if I have to but I'm willing to spend money first. Where should I start?

There don't seem to be any legitimate streaming options that show up in searches, but it is still available for purchase, it appears.

Hulu is good for watching archives, and some things show up on Hulu that you can't get with On Demand for whatever reason.

"Are you smoking crack?"
I think that this trial is going to end with Judge Koh ordering all Apple and Samsung facilities burned to the ground, the sites sowed with salt, and all of the disputed patents becoming public domain.

this epitomizes all that is wrong with modern, us-of-A law/courts/suits.

Samsung is winning though... for the moment anyway.
Maybe they're the Dell of the phone/tablet world...

A week ago I switched from T-Mobile to AT&T. I had to do it because T-Mobile has a new data roaming policy that limits you to 100MB of roaming data per month. That's right, 100 megabytes. I can burn through that in a 3-day weekend at the cabin. It isn't even a matter of being throttled or charged extra once you exceed the limit, they just cut you off. Since I rely on my phone's data connection for work, that new policy made their service completely useless to me. I didn't really want to switch back to AT&T but that was the only real option for me.
So a week ago I picked up an LG Optimus G. The phone was beautiful. The 1280x768 display was amazing... and the thing was FAST. Unfortunately, LG had to make all sorts of changes to their implementation of Android that made the UI clumsy and inconsistent. I ended up ordering a new Nexus 4 which is essentially the same device but unlocked and with a completely pure Android implementation.
It didn't make sense for me to have both the Nexus 4 and the Optimus G so today I exchanged the Optimus G for a new Lumia 920... the Windows Phone 8 flagship.
This is a very nice phone. The display is actually a little bit nicer than the Optimus G. As far as Windows Phone 8 goes, Microsoft managed to make several improvements but many of the complaints I had about Windows Phone 7 have not been addressed. Still, the camera is better than anything you will find on any other smartphone... especially in low light situations thanks to the F2.0 Carl Zeiss lens and the optical image stabilization.
