"Digital hubs." iPod and its successors. (iPhone?) Convergence. How ridiculous will DRM get? Yep, put it all together and it just might make for a successful thread.

In America, the only respectable form of socialism is socialism for the rich.
Just came across this in Audubon mag:
http://birdjam.com/
They'll sale you an iPod loaded with 4GB of bird calls and photos! Looks very cool. Will also load up your own, or, sell you the media to load it yourself.

Yhe Uni where I work is going to be announcing next week the availability of the iphone for staff & faculty purchase. Which means IT plans on supporting them. Guess they're getting to be an acceptable business phone.

It's probably just the open-source WebKit/KHTML engine so that it renders pages exactly the same. I believe Nokia S60 phones already have this.

Still, that's got to hurt Opera.

Anyone have an AppleTV and hacked it in any way? Getting a refurb for an interesting project.

I've got one, but the only hack I've done is to install a 120gb HD. It was a 40GB model, IIRC.

Nah, I transcode everything to .m4v @ AppleTV-friendly bitrates and import into an iTunes installation it's linked to.
That way it's wife-friendly.

Have you looked at some of the hacks? I'm curious as to what would entice you.
On a parallel track, has anyone worked with Quartz Composer? This thing is amazing. You can make very complex animations and interactions with little to no programming. A real Mac advantage, for the right needs.

Yup, Quartz Composer is amazing, and you can also feed data to it and control it a bit with the keyboard.

What have you done with it, Bruce? If it's something you can and would rather talk about by email, hit me.

I've tried to hack the Appletv, but the patchsticks never seem to work.
