"Digital hubs." iPod and its successors. (iPhone?) Convergence. How ridiculous will DRM get? Yep, put it all together and it just might make for a successful thread.

Yeah, I would LOVE to know how they developed that model. I've a feeling it was the result of a lot of competing pressures and demands from little fiefdoms in the company, but that's just a WAG.

I'd like to subscribe to the paper edition, with special instructions to throw my copy out rather than deliver it. It's like they're bribing you to make their outdated business model appear viable, while actually utilizing their new model.

Well, I still _prefer_ having the paper version. So there.

After all, it is handy for wrapping up fish & chips, or breakable items when moving, or as "insurance" for incontinent pets...

Anyone else pronouncing the name of Motorola's tablet "exhume"? Surely I'm not the only person who's thought this?
It's not quite as good as "WinCE," perhaps, but it's close.

The question is, who will inhume the exhume?

What a journey.
good luck.
I still think it will be an interesting race for marketshare long-term. Now PROFITS? I think Apple will win out there. But marketshare, not sure.

Meet the new Microsoft. As I'm listening to
John Siracusa talk about Apple's strategy tax and pathological need to be self-reliant, I wonder if Samsung will ramp up Bada now. I wonder how carriers feel about this - I don't think they're as used to taking orders as mfgs are. Maybe a couple of carriers and mfgs will split off a new Android branch. The Amazon app store means that Google won't be able to hold the Marketplace over their heads.
All that would be great - it's exactly how open source protects everyone from one company's control.

Yeah, I can see this blowing up in Google's face. They claim to be taking this route to avoid fragmentation. It could end up causing even more fragmentation if it results in an Android fork.

Well, if it's a fork, it will only be partially Android. Half Android. Hemiroid.

Hm, since "andro-" means "male or man", that'd more really be "half-a-man droid".

Tonight I finally installed CyanogenMod on my Nook Color. I had tinkered with Android running from the Senior card before but now I took the plunge and installed it on the internal memory. This is really cool.

Android was less about openness and choice and more about trying to come up with a marketing angle that would compete against apple. Closed is bad, open is good. I don't think the handset makers are going to care either. Less stuff for them to worry about supporting.

I read that and got "Tonight I finally installed ...blah blah blah blah... I had tinkered with Android running from the ...blah blah... before but now I took the plunge and installed it on the internal memory. This is really cool."
